Entering the BMW fraternity
Hello all
Wanted to make a post and say hello, Been using threads on here to help in choosing my next car. I was originally planning on going down the Audi A4 S-Line route until I drove the 320d Msport Xdrive! Had various cars in my past; Abarth 500 (Good fun!), Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI and then a Scout, Peugeot 107,208 and 308 but never a premium marque and really looking forward to it! I decided my ideal spec would be the F31 320d Msport Xdrive Touring with Pro Nav, Auto and if possible the 403 alloys and Xenon/Vis pack but working to my budget I could find anything with them all so had to make a compromise and here it is! (See Pics) I will appreciate some advice on bulbs to use I have tried Phillips Xtreme Vision and Night Breaker Plus in the past, I want to achieve added visibility and a whiter appearance if possible. I dont like the stupid glaring blue bulbs that seem to be everywhere at the moment Thanks in advance |

Looks like x drive is doing what it said on the tin- pulling the Audi market. Car looks nice btw. Looks like you have xenons though or am I mistaken?

You must, you must improve the look of your bust!
Get the Vis Pack instead and ditch the 19" kerb hungry, difficult to fix high heels if it is a choice of one or the other. Whenever I see an F30 without the Vis Pack, I assume, rightly or wrongly, the car is of poverty spec. Does this make me a bad person? Yes, it does!

320d Msport Xdrive Touring in Black Sapphire Black Dakota Leather Auto Gearbox 19" 403 alloys High-gloss Black interior trim BMW Professional Seat Heating (front) Sun Protection Glass Not initially, I had my heart set on a estate. Then after driving the Xdrive was more convinced the BMW was the one I currently have a Skoda Octavia Scout on load and find it very reassuring in the bends and on the more difficult terrain. Plus we also have access to a family tourer caravan so the added pull/traction and weight all help with this. (I know caravan are usually popular which is why I will make sure its a removable tow bar!) The whole drive felt more engaging in the way the power is laid down, Having also test drove the A4 quattro it is propelled forward in a different way (Hard to describe) Either way I strongly suggest if you have already a test drive Im 99% sure they arent xenons Thanks everyone for responses |

Why as a BMW estate as your 1st BMW?
Usually people transcending from other brands to BMW gets the sedan~

18s + viz pack over 19 + poverty spec. And also sport auto transmission. But if you've committed already then well done its a cracking car!

Plus I personally think the touring looks better than the saloon/sedan (Ive also seen other reviews saying very much the same) Quote:
I would guess 80% of the F30/31 I have seen have had Halogens and I do think the xenons add to the whole aesthetics plus the safety element of increased visibility. I can only assume that most cars are leased/company cars and adding more and more options increases the P11D value and therefore the cost to the customer. |

Very nice car mate. I am sure you will enjoy it. Another Audi convert! Seems all the xdrives are coming out to play. I drive over 1300 miles per month all over the country and I haven't seen one since March. Dickie

Lovely car, agree on the practical side of the Touring and the reassurance of the X Drive.
I'm not a fan of the big wheels and small discs behind but thats a personal choice. For some of us that take these as a company car its difficult to balance the options against the tax hit. For SWMBO it was more important to have the H & K sound upgrade than the look of the light upgrade - Music is always on in the car, headlights aren't used all the time ! Makes me jealous as i still have to wait another month for mine |

To all of you who are in criminal love with Audi interiors, I say PAH!
They might appear or feel solid, but are stolid like the whole car, have no coherent design theme and look painfully ugly to these eyes. Even the minimalist new A3 interior is not very exciting, but everyone is raving about it and I for the life of me am in a quandary as to why there is such an orgasmic reaction to it.
