VSS: Is it the same in the F30 and F20?

I ask this because it has had a very negative reaction from Steve Sutcliffe, Auto Car and Georg Kacher, Car when testing the M135i.

Here is the road test video with Steve Sutcliffe who hated it:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-video/v...i-vs-bmw-m135i

Georg Kacher said it was over-damped and under-transparent in the latest Car Mag. No link, sorry.

Like everything, I think you should try before you buy.

Don't know why they bothered with that road test, from the start he was drooling over the A class, not sure I'd be willing to spend 38K on an A Class but was surprised how expensive Golf GTI are nowadays (28K).

Yes, odd test. The Mk7 GTI is the slow coach and too expensive for the performance on offer. A bit of a rip-off if you ask me.

I don't know why Steve Sutcliffe feels the A45 AMG has a good ride. I've driven one and it nearly fused my spine to my liver. Georg Kacher of Car felt that the ride was very hard.

Both of them rated the A45 AMG above the M135i, which Georg Kacher considered to be more of a GT than a super hot hatch. Both of them disliked the VSS in the M135i and both felt the M135i had poor body control. Georg Kacher gave top marks (5/5) to the M135i for ride, refinement and panache but 3.5/5 for driver involvement and absolute sportiness.

What's going on with the tacky nav/info screen that sticks out in the A/B class? Dreadful imo.

Actually, it looks ok when you see it in situ.
