M435i or just 435i M-Sport

Hi Guys,

Previous JB4 e92 335i owner here!

Just wondering if anyone has some insight as to whether we will actually see an 'M435i' or whether the journalists have just confused with the 435i M-Sport?

I'm really considering going for the 435i, but don't want to put pen-to-paper if we can expect the M version down the line at some point.

Personally, I think there will not be as this will be too close - performance wise - to the M4? Just going on figures flying about for the M4.

Cheers

From what I have read so far there will be a 435i sDrive M Sport and possibly an xDrive version. There will also be a 430d sDrive M Sport, 430d xDrive M Sport and a 435d xDrive M Sport. So no M435i, M430d or M435d.

If there is it will be a good few years away so don't hold your breath, they might do it mid-end of life to drum up some extra sales

They won't release a M435i as there will be an M4 model so won't be any need.

The only reason the M135i model was called that, was because it couldn't be called the M1 as this was a model in its own right in the late 70's, early 80's...

The m135i is a sort of sub M car in the same way the m550d was for the 5 series, but the lines are blurred slightly with availability of the performance upgrade kits. Think audi s line vs s4 vs rs4

BMW has the M Sport trim which competes against S-Line from Audi. The m550d etc are another sector again I would say are a sector that neither Mercedes or Audi at the moment have no answer for...

Wel aware why they called it that , but M235i will happen , why not have an M435i, if M4 steps up slightly? If there is demand the will supply

They are already going to supply it, it just won't be called a M435i, just simply 435i just like the already available 335i.

The cars with M badges fitted from the factory, actually have had M division development work done to them so as the 235i will share the under pinnings of the M135i it too will be badged as the M235i. That won't be the case for the 435i.
