DIY: M5 Kidney Grills
Hi guys,
I was surfing the internet looking to buy the F10 M5 grills when I just decided to take mines out and have a look for myself to see if something could be done. It took maybe like 30 seconds per side to take the grill of the bumper, and after closer examination decided to test a few things to see if I could take the chrome out without damaging the grills. After experimenting for a while I found that metal polisher does the trick. It literally takes from 30 sec to a minute to remove the chrome paint per slat and it doesn't leave any scratches or marks on the surface. It leaves a matte finish on the slats which is exactly what I was looking for. Keep in mind that there's no turning back from this mod and I only did it because I was 100% sure of what I wanted. Attached is a picture with the grill half way done. Good luck.
