ACS Springs Too High?
After reading the stellar reviews from those who had the ACS springs, I decided to get them (wasn't cheap!). To reiterate what others have said, these springs ride very comfortable and feels just like stock M sport springs.
I really didn't notice the height difference since it was so minimal...but when I put on 20" rims, that was a different story. There's at least a 1.25" fender gap in both the front and rear. I was hoping for maybe an .75"... Those with 20" rims with ACS setup, how wide is your fender gap? Below is a photo. I'm thinking of going coilovers (Megan or KW V2s). *sorry for the large photo |

A two finger gap or around 1.25" is about right. Should've gone with HR or Eibachs for a ~ .75" gap.

My 550i sits low- when I swapped my stock Msport 19" for OEM M5 20" with PPS tires the rear rubs over bumps. Was able to turn the rims down and no more rub under normal loads (so far) but can't imagine going lower than the ACS

I still have mine sitting in the garage, since every indy in Sacramento freaks out at working on an F10 and wants to charge 6+ hrs just to get into it. I am in the SF area a lot so it wouldn't be a problem.

I get all my work done at SonicMS...they're in Milpitas / N. San Jose. They work on F10 very often, so they are experienced.

I might do that once I get off me arse and get around to it. Did either of you guys wrap the top 2 coils with rubber tubing to prevent any of the potential clanging issues?

I bought the springs last month and check for the rubber tubing and it was installed on the coils by ACS. I didn't do the "Alan L." tubing mod

I can still get three fingers on the front of my f10 after the ACS springs. It has been one month; however maybe only 100 miles.

I got ACS springs for my LCI and they now come with the tubing installed up front. Springs will take awhile to come down a bit more. Search for Middy's pics. He's on ACS springs for awhile and they look almost H&R low

Thanks Alan. I was trying to wait to get an alignment, but at this rate it will take a year for the spring to settle in.

BigDeep1, is your ride height about the same as mine? These are the used ACS springs which I bought a month ago with 10K miles on them.

Honestly, I only have the front lowered so far and the gap is identical to the rear. I can see from your pic that the back is lower. Did they get the alignment to spec? |

Short story made long; the springs were used, and in LA, so I wanted an expert opinion as to whether they were still good prior to buying them and putting them onto my car. The seller and I agreed on a well-known shop in northern LA owned by Long Tran (www.ltmw.com). Long Tran and the suspension guys looked at the springs, deemed them acceptable, I paid the seller, and three hours later I drove off with ACS on the car and the Eibach's in the trunk. On their web site they publish the cost as $170 but that's for the EXX chassis. The F10 cost a little more because of the rear strut access through the rear speaker shelf.
The car was already aligned with the Eibachs. The change to ACS did not make a big enough difference to get an alignment done right away but I will have it done next month on the annual cycle I started last year when the Eibachs were installed.

That is becasue the M5 tires are a tad taller in diameter compared to the 550i 19"setup ;-)
