AMS Catless downpipes + Akrapovic EVO

OK fellas, I finally got the courage to go catless. Seriously, AMS Catless downpipes paired with the Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust is just awesome. Video don't due it justice. You got to hear it in person. Definitely a wow factor when it comes to sound. The cracks and thunderclaps intensify dramatically, the turbo spooling sounds so good. It feels like a different car, total transformation. It sounds pissed off all the time.

So far I have put about 1000 miles on it and happily to report that the car feels great. No bogging, no drone, and the car pulls much harder. Lots of wheel spin and power cutting off in MDM mode due to traction. I feel that 2nd and 3rd gear is where most of the gain is at. Caught me by surprise a couple times. Installation was done at EAS, It took them 3 hours.

I even got the chance to weigh them as well. Stock DP weighs 12lbs each. AMS Catless DP weighs 4lbs each. I did get a CEL during the Targa Trophy Vegas run, but that was expected. Getting the micro-cats put in later this week. Hopefully this will take care of the CEL. I do smell fumes, but its not that bad, it smells like a go kart. My wife don't even noticed the smell going to Vegas. Overall I am very happy with the DPs. Best mods so far. Here is a short video clip that my security guard captured.

I got the Check Engine Light at roughly 80 miles. The solution is putting a pair of Microcats in the downpipes. I should have the microcats by tomorrow or Friday. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Funny video! The car sounds great! I was hoping we could have done a pull on the way to Vegas, but maybe next time. Would've been interesting to see what happened.

Thanks Dave, for sure next time during our next #M5Army run in Mexico. Would love to see the results! The car feels much faster now that the ECU has adapted, it took quite a bit of mileage to soak in. I actually got a couple of pulls with M54ccibo on the way to Vegas. We didn't get a fair assessment as we both shifted late out of second and hit the rev limiter on both of the runs. Unfortunately, I had a flat so we couldn't do much after that.

Jesus Christ. That is crazy. The non-stop giggling of the photog says it all...

I wish these super loud systems had an on/off button in the cabin.

Sometime you don't want to sound like you are going 100mph when you are going 35...

I really, really want to put these on my car, but the issue is that I will certainly be black flagged at tracks - at least here in CA.

Too bad we can't have it all - increased power, increased volume, and an easy way to shut it all down to 100 dB if needed. Oh well.

Yeah my ECU took about 500 miles to adapt. Once it had adapted I definitely noticed the difference though. Insane!

Yeah, Laguna Seca is 93dB. But there is a semi work-around on most tracks, and that is to find the test station and short shift before it. That will work for mildly loud cars. The problem is though, if you violate or they see a number of cars exceeding the noise limit, they will put a reader on the car and test you directly. No bueno.

The sound insulation on these cars are so good. To be honest it is still very quiet during normal cruising, still feels like stock when engine is in efficient mode. But when you put it in sport+ and gun it, then its a different story. So far I have no complaints in term of loud, I actually think with the windows up its still quiet under load.

Catted Downpipes might work you Chris?

Here is the a DB reading of iPE exhaust + headers with cat-bypass according to the info I got from their website. 110 DB. This setup is probably louder than mine.

Sup Vic,

I am planning to do a dyno tomorrow or maybe next week. EAS has all my stock, Akra Evo, and Carbon filter delete runs on their dyno. I'll post up the result soon. Should be interesting.

Yeah Tom should have the Catted ones ready for the M6, installation was a breeze. You'll love the sound. Do it Vic, you'll definitely feel the gain. Much more so than a full exhaust.

I have the Vorsteiner's VSE003 Concave Mono's. Man the Klassen M52R looks very similar. LOL!

Oh crap bad eye ---- on my part... I got the VS 110's on my new 991C4S- great wheel.

Now I already have the Meisterschaft header back system (LXR pipe and cans) I wonder how that will sound since its louder than AKRA....

Same problem with motorcycles at Laguna, and to make it worse the test point is out of turn 5 and up the hill to 6, where everyone is (or should be) hard on the gas. If you let up there your lap time is way off..... I imagine it would be the same for cars.
