ipod hassle

so my MY 08 coupe has 6FL non-i drive.

listening music from USB stick is much more clear and dynamic than the y-Cable(non-digital) connected to ipod or iPhone.

i know recent models allows you to just use the apple 30pin and or lighting cable from the iPhone/ipod straight to the usb port.

i believe this digital option is called 6vc? can this digital connection be retrofitted in order to have just a regular usb wire connected instead of the y-cable?
