iPod option for LCI 335d

Afternoon guys,

I've tried searching for the last two days in hopes of getting what i'm looking for, but most of the threads began years ago and I can't decipher what applies to my car.

Yesterday I traded in my 2009 X5 which was loaded to the gills with every option except the sport package. The new car is a 2011 335d. First thing I noticed is that I cannot hook up my iPod which as been my primary audio source in the last few cars I've owned. I only have a 3.5mm AUX jack below the armrest (no covered USB, i checked 3 times), along with the USB jack in the glovebox that I learned is only for map updates and loading the internal drive.

note: pairing my iphone5 with the system allowed me to play the couple songs on that over bluetooth, but I really don't keep much music on my phone and would prefer the massive storage in my 6th gen iPod classic.

I have already emailed bimmer retrofit to see what can be done, but that was only a few hours ago. I *think* all I need is the 6FL retrofit, but I can only order that from their site if I include the 6NR ConnectedDrive kit - I am considering this.

My car has the following [relevant] options:
also, it's build date is 11/30/2010 and i believe i read some changes happened around then to the packages

609: Nav Pro
620: voice control
639: phone prep
655: sirius
688: HK/logic7
6VC: combobox

Thanks in advance, and hopefully I can contribute in the future.

Your 335d has a Combox, so the USB is there but not enabled.

- Hardware required are the cable (from the Combox to the center console) and the USB socket.
- Coding required is 6FL to the VO.

You can get the P/N is this forum by searching and if you know how to code then you can enable it yourself.

Technically you could code 6NR (BMW Apps) as well only if you update the Combox firmware to 03/11-08/11 version without the need of enabling codes. Otherwise you will need enabling codes (available at extra cost) if your car firmware was updated by your dealer to the latest version (post 09/11).

This option is more complicated than just coding. Either Bimmerretrofit or BimmerTech forum vendors can provide that service.

Just like Stevers314 I am lost in all these post..... I have spent about the last month attempting to decode all this 6NF, 6NR, combo box mumbo-jumbo.... I am at a lost.... I have a April 2010 production date 2011 E93 335is. I have the HK/Logic 7 system with USB and 1/8 inch jack in center console (iPod connected controlled by system) and second USB in glove box for NAV updates and audio files saved to HD. My iPhone is connected via Bluetooth and most importantly BMW Assist is active and I insist it stays active. Do I have a combo box? I found a TCU1.5 MOST GSM box in the trunk, does that mean I do not have the combo box or where would it be located?

I was going to add the ModMyNav media interface like I had in my previous 06 E90 but since they are on back order I am having second thoughts. I would prefer to control my iPod from the system in lieu of having to control it from the iPod. But what options would I have to get album art displayed and video playback but ALSO retain my BMW Assist, I think the options I want are BMW Apps and Connected Drive???

Any

If you can stream the music via bluetooth to CIC, then you have combox.
If you cannot stream the music, then nope.

Thanks for your assistance Makkan00!!!

I guess I do not have combox because I do not see any way to stream music from my Bluetooth connected phone.... Can I just add the combox, or does it have to replace something?

You will have to find somebody to replace your TCU / MULF with Combox retrofit.
Done on many cars in Uk.
