Anyone in NY/NJ/CT area who hardwired radar

Hey...I was wondering if anyone in the tri state area has hard wired their radar themselves. I tried to pop out the piece and got nowhere with it..actually ended up scratching the chrome a bit when I slipped If anyone could either give me some pointers, or maybe can help me out..I'd really appreciate it. I did all the work on my last car and had no problem doing so...This car doesn't seem easily accessible. Thanks again

Look in your owners' manual. Instructions are included for removing the light panel to manually operate the sun roof. The panel is a very tight fit in the E90, or at least in those that I have worked with. It was easier slip in and out of earlier BMWs.

I sat there with a spatular...screwdriver..the manual and printed out instructions from the website..and I couldn't pull it out for the life of me...i already scratched the chrome up a couple of times when i slipped...thank god the frosted piece goes over it and noone knows ..however if you have any other hints..i'd really appreciate it.

On a side note, again if someone is from around my area..I'd really appreciate a hand in this! Otherwise I might just put the v1 up on Ebay..

Till you get it hardwired in run the powercord down the A-Pillar, between it and the glass, on the right side then down the side of the glove box and then under (or through the glove box) The cord is small enough to fit between the glass and pillar frame if you need help pushing it in just get a credit card and use it to shove it in. It hides it very well.

hmm...good thinking!! i was thinking on how to get it into the A Pilliar...In my last car I had it wired like that temporarily as well since I could remove the A Pilliar easily.

As a last resort, you could visit a BMW Center and ask the trim Technician to pop the panel for you. You could give him $10 or $20 for the favor. If you elect to run the wire down the "A" pillar, be sure to run it down the forward edge so that it won't be in the way in case of an airbag deployment.

Where in rockland are you? I'm in nanuet/bardonia every weekend. Can swing by and show you how I did mine. I'm not a pro but I know what it "feels" like - you have to push pretty hard, mostly upwards but at an angle towards to the back of the car.

To remove front dome light you need to push 2 clips behind the reading lights. You can find more info on how to remove the front dome light here:dome

Hard wired V1

I removed the convienence overhead light panel with great apprehension as the panel is flimsy and not easily removed. I found the green 24awg wire that others tied into but IMHO it was too small. Especially for the insulation displacement connector (IDC) that comes with the V1. Not to mention the hot wire on the V1 transformer looks like 16 awg. Even then, I contemplated using the green wire but the IDC connector was not the right size for that wire and could cause sporadic power. After probing just about every wire up there, to find another larger awg hot wire to no avail, I decided it was the wrong place to connect the V1. I easily routed the wire along the windshield/headliner, down the piller trim and under the dash to the back of the fuse panel. In fact it took less time than removing the light panel! Still didn't hook it up yet because the V1 doesn't really fit well anywhere up there in the first place! Might just put it down low so I can put the visors down! I recommend trying the V1 up there prior to hard wiring it.

Mine fits perfectly. I can still use the visors but while they are down (rarely) I lose visual use of the v1
