Hard Decision!!!

I currently have an 07 335i and its time to upgrade. These are my choices:

2012 bmw 335i with 9k miles
2012 audi s4 with 15k miles
08 bmw m3 with 30k miles
09 audi s5 with 35k miles

Please give me your opinion.

I'll take the S4, since stock for stock it's quicker than a 335, until you start modding. I mean to go to another BMW is really nothing special, especially going from a 335 to an M3. The M3 has a more aggressive look but the overall interior of the two really doesn't differ that much. On the other hand, the Audis have always won best in class for the interior. Don't get me wrong I love my car, but the S class of the Audis, look way more aggressive than the 3 series imo. Hell when I sale this car my next one will be a C63 AMG which just looks and sound effin beasty!

Those are all nice cars. I have an 07 328i e92. When my warranty is up I plan on upgrading myself. I plan to lease a 4 series coupe, keep my 3 and mod the hell out of it. That being said if I was in your position this is what I would do. I guess it all depends on your financial situation. My reasoning for wanting to do this is so I can jump in a new car every 3 years while being covered by a warranty during the time. And when I want to mess around I'll always have my 3. As to your list of cars, I'd chose the 2012 335i over the 08 M3 just because it's newer and probably still under warranty. Audi doesn't even come to question unless it's an R8.

These is a nice list of cars. I drove S5 V6 and I noticed instantly that is a heavy car. It does have a nice engine but it does not handle like BMW. S5 V8 is probably similar with the better engine sound.

M3 is heavy as well and the tq is low. You have to rev it up high to get the power. Also the mpg can get bad quickly depends how you drive. My friend has one and it is in low teens without pushing it really hard. It is a very good car overall. I would be lokking at 335is instead of M3 and then mod it.

I would not consider S4.

Since you did not provide your criteria like 2dr vs. 4dr etc., I would take 335i because of it's power, handling, mod options and low mi. I would cross shop it with the S5 if you prefer the style and interior quality/layout. It depends what you want.

Is Cayman an option?

Have you looked at a Cayman S? 2009+ as they don't have IMS issues.

Audis may win a lot of awards for interior but my friend has a 2012 A5 cab and its literally falling apart. So many electronic issues trim issues leather issues... Audis are so expensive but IMHO the quality is so much more poor then BMW. Just a lil piece of advice to help with your decsion. Good luck!

All those car are great but it will come down to which one feels the best when you test drive it. you might not like any of them, I know that's not an answer to your question. So IMO the M3

Granted your friend has an A5, the S 4/5 is a completely different beast. As far as electronics failing and things of that nature hell our cars share the same fate when it comes to components failing i.e hpfp, lpfp, turbos etc. The Audis do cost more but if he has those to choose from I don' think money would be an issue. Just like any luxury car, you have to pay to play. I would go fir the s4 over all three just the fact that the b8 engine has some serious power and tuning potential. When it comes to modding, a simple tune would set that car off GIAC, ARC, etc, compared to our tunes.

since you are trying to "UPGRADE", the choices are obvious s5 or m3. S4 looks like something my mom would drive.

s5 or m3 would be my choice, but I ended up with the E60 M5.

'12 S4 or '08 M3.

Really just comes down to whether you want a newer car or not...

Really goes down to choice of drivetrain. S4 are stupid quick just like 335's, so its not like you're missing out on that.

I agree with throwing a used Cayman S on your list. Now that's an upgrade!

I guess we need more criteria to give out our opinions. Do you track? Do you need a back seat? Do you need AWD? I agree with most a Cayman S would be a killer ride.

S4 IMO. Seems more of an upgrade than an 08 BMW M3. Plus that car is more newer than the M3. So you won't feel like it is a downgrade as much...

Why aren't you trying for a BMW M6 with the v10: sound of the engine is better than all the other cars
