Manual transmssion questions

Hi,

I have been driving manual for about 1 year now but still have a few questions.

First I noticed that if I press in the clutch at about 2k rpms it makes a noise that doesn't sound normal. Is it ok to push in the clutch at this rpm. Also when driving a manual am changing gears do you recommend having your heel free or having it on the carpet. I am always used to having it on the carpet.

Thanks

Coordination between the clutch and throttle is needed.

I let of on the gas when the clutch goes down.

If you are experiencing the notchiness between 1st and second or
2nd and 3rd this has been reported a lot. Changing the transmission
fluid to redline D6 may help it did for me.

If you're hearing a rattling sound and or feel the car shaking along with the sound, then it's just the dual mass flywheel and it's normal. It happens sometimes if you don't time the clutching correctly.

As for heel placement, it doesn't really matter. Whatever works for you, as long as you can depress the clutch fully and release it all the way in a smooth manner.

You should take it to a shop and have them test drive. Trying to diagnose noises on a forum is difficult to do accurately. If only happens at 2000 rpm that isn't normal and you should still go have it checked out. Test drives with a service manager are usually free.

Adding a clutch stop could be a cheap way to make the clutch easier to use (less distance travel to push it down), and a cdv delete may help you sync your clutch a bit better.
