360 degrees will take 2 cameras, one front and one back, but a lot do dual view so it syncs the output and will show you the 2 views at the same time.

The Blackvue stuff is really nice but expensive, finevue are nice (and some have sony ccd in them) mid priced, I am cheap, so have a LiVue and it works great for the money.

I suggest looking here as they rate them all and give samples of output and feature compares http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/

Good luck choosing, I just put one in a few weeks ago, just in the front - rear is a pain as to get power to it as you need to zip tie the cable along the other cables and follow the route they follow for the folding top, not impossible, just not easy. I decided to just stick with the front for now and back into parking spaces to get a good front view.

I did a livue lb100, seems to work well, has the power protection to turn off if voltage in the car gets too low, had it sit for a week in my garage with no issues and no power draw complaints on idrive. I put a 32gb memory card in it as they are cheap and only comes with 8.

hey bro, sorry to hear you have to actually use one against some punk...

since we have the verts, it's really difficult to have it for 360, unless like stated by bob you have to have two.

I did get two, from finevu. the CR-500 HD with the sony cmos sensor, came with 16GB and software pre-installed.

I'm planning on trying to connect both to the car battery itself OR just have separate externals batteries to power them for the parking feature. (for our cars we have to connect it to the battery itself or it won't be able to record after 20-30 minutes.

i'm planning on running both on the front mirror just side by side and then for instances where i'm parked against a wall and rear against it, i want to face one to the front and one to the side so if i do get a serious door ding i know who to trace down, clever right? haha..

well, i hope you can get your issue resolved even without having to shell out a couple hundred for a dashcam.

best of luck to you!

As others have said, you're going to have to use multiple cameras. A friend of mine uses a BlackVue and has been very happy with it.

I've been thinking of a dash cam. For us vert's what do you guys think of mounting a camera between the two rear headrests? It is less of a field of view, but still better than nothing?

HD Video Depot has the 2 channel model for $395...hmm, decisions, decisions..

I tried to get a price from the distributor - http://www.scansysinc.com but they directed me to HD Video Depot or Amazon.

I spoke to someone there who was familiar with the system. He said the only complaint is that GPS wont pick up if the view to the sky is obstructed. This makes sense to me as the antenna is built in the tiny unit versus the shark fin antenna we have on our cars.

two ch. cams aren't as strong as 2 individual dedicated cameras working. there has been a test done with this by blackboxmycar on youtube.

I'd worry about it sticking out with the top down and getting ripped off. For the rear I'd consider either a license plate camera with DVR function or a custom mount inside one of the rear headrests with a Blackvue type camera. If you can't find a license plate frame camera with DVR you could just buy something like this separately with the license plate frame camera:

So.....you need a camera to protect your car and catch criminals but you leave your car unattended with the lid down?

Incorrect. I don't use the camera to catch theft or protect my car, not much point it that IMO. I use it to protect my *ss and document accidents/ d*ck head driver altercations (usually Audi guys).
