Arrow 66k miles, fuel pump #3 + release of updated fuel line

Hi guys,

So my fuel pump was going out this past month (crossing 66k). I had the car's original pump fail at 20k, another one replaced part of the recall (no failure) at 38k which failed now.

My car is no longer under warranty so I was expecting to get this replaced for free under the nation-wide recall. The dealership agreed, took my car in and called me now saying they are willing to replace the fuel pump, give me free labor but they need me to pay for a brand new fuel line (WTF?).

Apparently it is an updated fuel line that will help and they want me to authorize the $200 part + free labour + free pump (it seems unnecessary to me since I haven't heard of anyone needing a new fuel line).

I'm worried the dealer is just taking me for a ride since they know I'm not under warranty. I don't mind paying if it's a genuine improvement/need though.

Any thoughts?

Unless they won't cover future fuel pumps if you decide NOT to replace the fuel line I would tell them to kick rocks.

Thanks! Did just that and they ended up covering it as goodwill.

Car is running smooth again

they probably just broke it putting in the pump and wanted you to pay for it!

Don't worry, my friend with an N55 had his water pump take a shit 3 times already… and he's only at low 3x,xxx miles. The BMW that sold it to him will be buying it back, with BMW North America's approval.
