Who knows, but I find it absurd they would offer this service to me at 16k.

I bet the dealer also charges the kind of people who actually pay for this service an extra $19.99 fee to fill up their blinker fluid at each visit...

Well some of the professional induction cleaning solutions are better than what you buy in the store. However these are only effective when introduced into the induction stream from near the throttle body. As far as fuel system cleaning something like MotorVac's system is introduced though the fuel line which works great on carb, TBI and MPI engines. I could see the dealer recommending this service to an older higher mileage car, especially one that's been run on non top tier fuel and has had a poor maintenance schedule. It would be beneficial because the injector pintle and nozzle can become contaminated especially inside the combustion chamber where excess carbon deposit can form. Fuel atomization and spray pattern are critical to efficient combustion. At 16,000 miles I'd say this is very premature. I'm a preventative maintenance freak and I would do a cleaning like this at 30K mile intervals. You might consider getting yourself something that's more a professional quality that the average Seafoam or Techron bottle in the tank.

I have used this with good results and a noticeable improvement BG's Direct Injection cleaner:

Here's a report of a test that BG ran on a Tarus SHO with the EcoBoost Turbo Direct Injection V6. I don't know the constraints/controls of the tests other than what they listed but from personal experience I use the products regularly in all our vehicles with good results.

Just had the oil changed today at the stealer and they had a similar brochure laminated that they recommended. SA said something about it's not just a bottle but they also clean the "fuel rail". I laughed.

That's about $140 in profit for the dealership
