Low speed transmission jerk? How many have it?
I am sick of this. How many of you have it? I want to gather some sort of data to see how common this is.
The issue I call low speed transmission jerk occurs at low speeds most commonly in a parking lot. Lets say you are looking for parking and you slow down and speed back up the car will jerk into gear. This does not happen at normal speeds nor everyday. Post details of when it happens and your mileage and what kind of e9x you have. 2010 335xi 32k miles. Happens at low speeds in parking lots occasionally and sometimes when exiting driveway. Doesent matter if car is cold or warm. |

Happened to me. i noticed it especially on cold start while feathering the gas pedal driving on my street in the mornings. Mostly from second gear to third it would shift a little hard. I used my BT cable and found out I had a misfire in cylinder 1. Took it to the dealer and told them about it hard shifting.
Long story short, they replaced all the injectors and spark plugs 1,5,6 (on warranty) and it now rarely hard shifts. Although i have felt it a couple times, but not as noticeable as before.

Hmm injectors you say? Someone else told me that as well but I have no codes at Ã*ll except low fuel pump sensor and golf tee mod.
I forgot mine only occurs when I am feathering the paddle. Doesent happen otherwise. I know.some people have hard downshift.....I don't have that either. |

Same problem, same car. E92 335xi 2010.
I think it has to do with the adaptive transmission (floating shift points based on how you drive over a recent period of time that the software samples). I noticed that back when I first got my car, I used to baby it and accelerate very slow and smooth when starting out in parking lots and my shift points were alot lower and VERY smooth. Then I start driving it like I stole it (taking off at traffic lights etc) and the shift points moved a bit higher. Now when I'm at low speeds in the parking lot I can predict when Im going to have a rough shift. I hear my RPMS starting to get a bit high (Im sitting there wishing the car would have just shifted into third already) and then bam jerky shift. Its like the car is going too slow/doesnt have enough gas, and the RPMs were allowed to move wayy too high in second before the shift into third happens. So, I started driving the way I used too and my shift points have slowly been floating back to where the were, and the problem is going away. I talked to a BMW service tech and he seemed to think this was the number 1 transmission related complaint that they run into and they usually just clear the shift data and let the car "re-learn" your driving habits. Side note: I picked my car up last night from having the injectors AND HPFP replaced, but I still maintain that wasn't the problem.

I have a 2007 335i 6MT. I usually feel a clunk if I let off accelerator in second anywhere below 3K RPM. Usually have to accelerate out and shift up to avoid, or downshift and ride slow.
