Seatbelt Handover

So I know this is a common issue..

But surprise surprise, my seatbelt handover doesn't work.

I didn't get my car brand new, but I got it from BMW and when I got it, it worked sometimes, didn't work others. So I don't know if they had done a temporary fix to it when I got it or not.

After a while of having the car, I ended up removing the spring from inside the mechanism and it worked every time.

But recently it's stopped working again. I rang BMW today and booked it in to get it replaced (under warranty).

Just wondering (from people that had from new) if I should expect it to last or is even a replacement likely to pack in after a while as well?

Pick up one of these. It works 95% of the time for the passenger side. My drivers side works almost perfect, but I don't have one of these on that side. It goes behind the seatbelt on the rod it's attached to iirc, to kind of push the seatbelt forward a little. Hope this helps.

Ah, nice and cheap! Will keep it in mind if the new one packs in.

Pull the fuse. Save your self the aggravation and embarrassment when passengers laugh incessantly when it doesn't work.

It's what I've done. I even forgot that there was a handover anymore. it's no big deal to reach back for the seat belt anyway.

The dealership put these plastic barrel looking things on the rail on the floor that the seatbelt attaches to and it seems to make it so that the seatbelt rests at a different angle that makes it easier for the arm/hand to catch it. Is this part that's linked the same thing? I can't tell how this part works or would be installed. If it's different, I'd consider ordering this part still.

Is it that much of a reach? I pulled the fuse on mine on day 1 of getting my car.

Does anyone have pics or videos of this working? I can't mentally picture how this would work.

Yes, it's that part. There is a rod where the seatbelt attaches to on the floor, and the belt moves freely along this rod. I have the piece with the angled side facing the back of the car, and it pushes the belt to the front of the rod, aka the front of the car. Thus, the belt no longer moves freely on the rod. Car is garaged now, so I'm not snapping a pic, sorry.

Actually had it in earlier and they replaced it with a new one that's working perfect, I quite like the feature unlike a lot of others, an when it's free to replace I thought I might as well, if this one ends up failing though I'll consider another method of having it work
