New Camaro SS vs 335i
So I never actually took a ride in the newer Camaro SS or had the chance to race one until this morning!
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a stock SS as it was quite a bit louder than I remember them being. Sounded like cams and exhaust at least. All I have on my 335i is a Cobb stage 1 tune, everything else is stock. Long story short, neither of us could pull on each other. We were neck and neck through the whole race. I could tell by the way the car was shifting that is was a manual, so I looked up the specs. those things are pretty beastly. 6.2L V8 with 426HP and 420TQ stock for a manual. All in all, with specs like in the SS, I was more than happy that I stayed neck and neck the whole time. Now I need down pipes and a front mount :P

Well yea, the RS is slow, but the SS is no slouch. Read the engine specs I posted up above.

Happy with the performance I am getting out of just the Cobb, yes.
Especially when the 335i with a stage 1 Cobb tune can keep up with a car like the SS. The SS isn't that much heavier either, just over 3,700lbs which is close to the 335. Plan to do a few more things in the future though to make it even faster

The SS was one of the cars I checked out before buying my 335i. It's a beast! It drives remarkably well too and can be modified to make an outrageous amount of power. The beauty of the 335i is that even with mods, it's still a great daily driver. Good job keeping up!

My good friend has a ss camaro, it's super quick. With juts a cobb tune, that sounds about right to be neck and neck with him. Camaro does 0-60 in 4.5, 335 does it in 4.8 stick, so with jut s a stage 1 tune, you are looking a probably close to identical numbers. Now throw a fmic in there and go to stage 1 plus, you easily pull on him.

I never understood how engines that big can be so slow and produce such little horsepower. I don't mean that 426 isn't a lot and that it is super slow, I just think they should have gotten more out of it. That's a pretty big engine.
Glad you won, though! Those muscle car guys need to know their place.

The only downside is that large displacement engines don't make sense in conuntries with displacement taxes. America doesn't have that problem. Camaros are pretty quick but very heavy as you go up the trim levels. I just wish they had made the SS 1LE off the bat. Might be one of my favroite cars out there right now. |

Do you want added practicality or can you live without it? I think the Camaro is too low for me, I'm 6' and the low roofline doesn't sit well with me.

+1. One of the best bargains out there but unfortunately have not seen a single one on the road to this day.
