Pulled trigger on Blend V1 mirror Mount

Been looking at these for like 2yrs now. Finally bought one tonight. So I went from a base model mirror to my Compass/garage door/Auto Dim and now doing the hard wire/mirror mount. Woot woot...

Honestly, the only use I see for a blendmount is if the V1 sticky cups won't stick on your windshield due to heat or whatever. Otherwise, it plops your V1 right in plain view of everyone and is difficult to conceal in a hurry if you know what I mean.

I'm assuming you're also planning to do the stealth mount with the V1 hidden in a headrest or something as well correct?

^ I already hange my V1 high. Just enough to barely clear the sun visor operation. I've had better results with it up high. And on V1's site they agree, hang it high. And in FL, I use my custom cut sunshade, so I hate taking it down and putting it back up (the V1) just to use the shade. I have tinted windows, the conceal display isn't really needed.

Got the mount in today. Fit/finish/instructions are flawless. Hard wired into the overhead console. Took it for one spin around town to get dinner and noticed the sensitivity is not there like before when it was mounted to the glass. I'll have to try it out next week on my normal drive, but I'm betting sensitivity is now less than glass mounted.

this is the other reason i dont like the blendmount or mounting in the rear headrest or incasing the V1 in a plastic box and sticking it behind the grille, etc, etc. It reduces performance.

I fought with the suction cups for years and they never did work reliably. I got a blendmount and hardwire kit for my 335i and couldn't be happier. My back window is 35% (max legal tint here) so it is difficult to see inside.

No I don't, but I had the V1 from when I lived in MD and still use it whenever traveling out of state (when I'm most likely to want it anyway, as I'll be on the highway.) I live in NoVA so I'm very close to MD, WV, PA...

^ I like the blendmount. I'm going to drive it around for a few weeks and see how the performance is vs suction cup mount. If it's pretty bad, I'll leave it hard wired Via the overhead console and mount it with suction cups up high like I normally had it mounted but minus the coil cord hanging down which is the part that annoyed me. That's how I had my V1 in my Vette. So we'll see how it works out. Just struck me odd yesterday when I drove it out for dinner places I normally pickup CVS's and such now were silent... weird.

I have the BlendMount and it works flawlessly for me. Have had it for at least 6 months now hard wired to my overhead console as well.

^ Drove around all weekend. It's fine. I picked up a cop miles down the road. I just pushed it as far foward on the adjuster. This way when you press the mute it doesn't slide forward anyway. I love it. I'm keeping it. I'll post some pics tonight guys. I give the Blendmount a 100% rating. the precision qualtiy and fitment of the product is awsome. Yes it's expensive, probly worth about $50 or $75, but whatever.

The only times I notice a sensativity issue is really with doors. And we're talking about picking up a door 25' feet closer. Not a big deal. I had a good test last night with a sheriff running ka the opossite direction. PLENTY of notice. Like always. V1 rocks.

As for the wiring, I actually found a 12V only when the key is on and ground and just shaved some of the wiring sheathing off and wrapped the V1 hard wire on to it and put a drop of solder on them. and then wrapped tightly with 3M electrical tape. I've had crap luck with those blue taps. I know... some people would never shave the factory wire. But it's only 3/8" section on two wires. I've always had better luck with that. I then used a zip tie to hold the wire to the mount, it's very very sleek. On a side note, I've had tihs V1 since 2008. Time to send it in for a update and checkup.

I have the blend mount on my v1 in FL it works great. Have been running it for just about a year, and never had one problem. It does it's job, and I could care less of other people can see it, it's there for me if other people see it too then good for them. If you are worried about others seeing it just speed up and they will back off. I had a guy following me till I started pushing 120mph then I never saw him again. 😁

^ I have tinted windows. Really not an issue. I like the Blend mount b/c now I can just park, put up m y custom fit sun shade and not have to take my V1 down. with the sunshade up, you can't see it. I think it's kinda out of sight out of mind myself... no suction cups. That's just me.
