Anyone want to hazard a lease figures guess?

Zero cap reduction, 3 year 36 k lease....

Is there a residual pattern BMW has with M cars? Might there be less incentives with good rates early in production vs later? What else?

Monthly USD lease charge????

I do know that upon initial release, the F10 M5 had terrible residual values (<55%) from BMW. The impression on the forum was that it was due to BMW not wanting to subsidize rates for a new, high-demand car. My searches back a few years in the F10 M5 forum seems to bear this out.

I do not think that BMW will try such shenanigans with the new M3. I have no evidence to support this, it is just a hunch. This is a much higher-volume car than the M5.

The flip side of this is, of course, that even if BMW tries this approach by suggesting that a $74,000 2014 M3 will be worth <$37k by 2017, it clears the path for the leasee to purchase the car outright and flip the car for sale on the market, pocketing some cash.

I intend on leasing the M3/M4 and my expectation is that residuals might be a little low out of the gate but that the money factor will be adjusted to keep payments reasonable. Figure $2k up front money, $1k a month including taxes to be safe. Any more than that and BMWFS risks really turning off customers. Especially knowing that Mercedes, Porsche, and Nissan are getting more aggressive with their lease programs.

I didn't plan on leasing but now I am not so sure. Is there a calculator that you can plug in numbers and tells you after how many years of ownership that buying up front is a better deal than leasing? I haven't been able to find one. Thanks.

The E90 stickered at about $73k fully loaded and the E92 was what, $2k more? I bet base price is about $65k with loaded cars up to $80k (without CCB). I would imagine lease prices with $2000 down will be over $1000/month before taxes.

E92 was iirc 3-4k more. 2013 base price was 63k or there.

My E90 and E92 M3's were $799 and $899 respectively (...both with $2k down and both optioned comparably; the E92 had ZCP while the E90 had the 19" upgrades). I expect the F80 optioned similarly to be in the same payment range as my E92, especially considering that many of the things that I optioned on previous cars are standard on the F8X.

BMW can't play in the $1000+ lease market. They are shooting themselves in the foot if they can't keep it below $1000, IMHO.

When people see 4-digits they start thinking mortgage payments, not car payments. It's psychological.

Well optioned I really think this car goes over $1000. Your concerns may turn out to be true.

In my experience residual values for M cars, including the m3, are notably lower than the 3-series equivalents. For example, you might see:

f30 328: 63%
f30 335: 62%
F80 m3: 56%

My guess is they'll do $750-850 per month for the base model car when it comes out. A base model 335is vert is $569/month without tax according to their offers.

Assuming a 56% residual on a $70k vehicle for 36 months, you'd need about $850 a month + tax for the lease to work out.

I hope you are right on with that assessment. I looked at an Audi RS5 and they wanted 5k down for $1475 a month, I laughed out loud and the salesman hung up on me!!!! I'd do a Porsche for that money

Wow that is insane! I would have laughed as ridiculed that salesman for sure. Thankfully I have a great relationship with my dealer but whenever I buy any car I make sure the salesman knows exactly how informed I am up front, what I want or I walk in 15 minutes.

Pretty sure that will work. With an ED it could very well go into Mid 800s

Is the money factor and residual set by BMW Financial? In other words, will all the dealers be giving the same lease rates (assuming the vehicle price is MSRP)?
