Lease Terms Determined After Car Arrival?
Is it normal to determine lease terms (monthly payment) at the time that the dealer builds the car or after the car arrives? Thanks.

Usually set before the car is built. You will have put down your $1k deposit to start the process and the lease terms, money factor and residual, will be good for 60 days for east coast orders and 90 days for west coast orders.

So when you build the car, at that time is there any paperwork? What do you get to lock in the monthly payment so they can't increase it on you when the car is delivered? All I got was the production sheet. Thanks.

Are you actually paying the MSRP or is your selling price different? With MSRP at $59,450, your monthly payment is very low even with $3,500 as down payment. My negotiated selling price was $50k with 0.00125MF and 62% residual value and it still comes out to little over to $600/mo with taxes. Do you know what your MF, residual value and lease terms are?

I didn't get anything in writing. We worked the deal which was in their system. I don't have trust issues so I didn't feel I needed a paper copy. Since I ordered for ED the order had to be entered months in advance. Rates and incentives did change during that time, but in my favor.

Unlike Hawaii where there is only 1 dealer per Island, on the mainland you can approach BMW multiple Dealers, give them exactly what you are asking for, ask them to price it out and have them tell you what monthly payments they can get for you. Then easy to compare as to who has the best deal. So the rest of the info is basically not needed (unless one is looking to purchase after a lease). |

You should know exactly which car you are getting with all the details, at the time the car is built(or transferred from another dealership) no paper work is needed.
My went to the dealership told them exactly what she wanted (color, interior, packages) they said they do not have it, she would have to wait 2 months because it is being sent from Germany. After 2 months they called her, she picked up the car, signed all the papers

I just don't want to agree on a monthly payment, have them build a car, and then 2 months later when it comes in they say that the monthly has gone up. If that happens, then I just wasted 2 months....

You aren't obligated to take delivery of the car if you are unhappy.... but whenever I order a car my CA locks in the current agreed upon numbers. When the car arrives, if the numbers/incentives/etc. are better, I have the option of choosing them. So you shouldn't have a problem --- did you go to Braman?

It rarely goes up any significant amount if at all. The only potential for a problem is if the car is delayed beyond the 60 days that they can normally hold the rates. Incentives are normally delivery driven, so if one is set to lapse prior to the retail delivery (signing the agreement/lease) then you might lose it. At this time of year , incentives and rates usually stay flat or improve slightly. You shouldn't be concerned.
