Sick of my PZero M 19" tyres.
Haven't been here for a while. Later this afternoon I am going to replace my 3rd p zero 19" tyres after another devastating punctures in early December. The tyre was holding up pressure but in the last week the front passenger lost from 270kpa to 165kpa after a weekend drive to nelson bay.
Last year I got my both rear tyres replaced after my 1st month and 3rd month of ownership. At least I have driven 9500km since August and I got tyre insurance from BMW. But this time I will be out of pocket but the $900 I spent is worth it. P Zero 19" Rear RFT $650 each inc. fitting BMW Sydney P Zero 19" Front RFT ~$500 each (will see as i have my last $100 insurance allowance of the year... out of $1400) - paid $400! next time i might buy a 4WD 13" alloy with foam based wheels so i don't need to worry about any puncture, or just give me four strong legs and no need to run flat, just run tired tyres! So far if i am out of pocket, it would cost me $1800 for 3 tyres... was talking to real people in BMW. The Service Technician/Engineer actually are the honest part of the business as always. Apparently, Bridgestone Potenza S001 is the new RFT that officially can be patched instead of replacement.

In my younger years I had an ex put nails under two tires THREE times. The first time I assumed it was a freak accident. The second time on the same two tires I realized it was intentional. By the third time I learned to check my tires before driving every time so I only had to replace 4 tires total.
Sometimes it just happens. Seems like getting a full size spare, a donut, or keep buying run flats are your only option |

I'm on the BMW full circle program which basically requires me to bring back those tyres in 4 years in perfect working order, which translates to about $3K fitted I spent that $3k On a new set of wheels and tyres instead and kept my OEM wheels in storage... |

I don't have storage for 4 wheels. But I am on full circle too. Stick with them wear and tear

I had a left rear puncture in a Bridgestone a few days ago on a run from Victor Harbour to Adelaide. The culprit was a piece of plastic that looked like a miniature dagger (probably from a broken tail light cluster). This is the first puncture I have experienced in about 14 years in my own car.
Previously, my wife's Mini Cooper had a puncture in a front tyre and we had to replace both tyres on the axle, so I was expecting the same thing with my F30. To my surprise when I took the car to a Bridgestone dealer, he checked to see if the tyre was repairable vs "Do Not Repair" (which is stamped on the tyre). In my case the tyre was repairable and the cost was $35!! I was gobsmacked! Since the repair the tyre pressure has stood up and no warnings from the TPMS.

Is yours potenza s001. Apparently they are patch able and the tech actually in theory they are all patch able as long as the tyre is not below 16psi. Once flat it has to be replaced. Wish I could patch them.

Yep, these are the Potenza S001's. The pressure had reduced to 20 psi, and I had driven carefully for about 10-15 km, so it there was no "crinkle" damage to the sidewall supports. The Bridgestone technician checked the sidewalls as best he could to make sure they were not damaged, prior to fitting the plug. Bridgstones are probably not the greatest tyres in the world, but they are fine for the kind of use I put them to. But to me last Thursday, they were the best tyres in the world for a $35 fix (with no tyre insurance)!!

Wow $650 for 19" RFT. That's pricey for tyres. I just got to hope I don't run into any nails, haven't got tyre insurance. If 19" is already $650, I can't even imagine what a 20" P-Zero RFT would be.

Damn you have had some bad luck!!
So what happens when you get a flat in the middle of nowhere (as you travel quite a bit) and the RFT is destroyed? Or have you been fortunate that you can limp home? |
