What's the status in the US?

I see some guys on here putting in orders.
On another forum I saw a well respected salesperson with an available allocation.
Then I read allocations are to come out mid feb.

What's really going on?

Let me start by saying I'm in NY so it might be different in other areas of the country. My dealership only has one launch M4 allocation and no M3 allocations whatsoever.. Presumably the launch allocation will come shortly and then followed by the production allocations.. You can spec out the cars but there is no pricing and no individual options or anything like that yet.. I will be the first F80 M3 ordered there for production but at this point there's no reason to spec it out because they can't do anything with it anyway.. I'm a veteran and I want to utilize the USAA military program and they don't even know what rebate will be available yet.. It's basically a waiting game until full pricing is announced and more allocations start being made available..

People are putting in orders without allocations. Any allocations out now are for launch / demo cars, which are not supposed to be sold but, well, you know what really happens.

Order banks not open yet.

Thanks for the info, I had a feeling that was the case. Just thought I was missing something. Hard to do checking the forum 5-10 times a day : )
