Squeaky Brakes? Apparently there's a service bulletin for that.

I couldn't take the squeaky brakes anymore so I took my F30 in to get them looked at. According to the CA, BMW just released a bulletin on the F30 (maybe any F* model) regarding the squeaky brakes. Apparently it involves caliper paint overspray, lack of lubricant and maybe even some metal on metal action.

The parts to replace my brakes are on order, direct from Germany. If your brakes are squeaking too, it might be a good time to call your local BMW dealer.

That's good to know. Mine squeal like mad on cold mornings. It's very embarrassing! I just emailed my CA and will probably take the car in on Friday. Thanks.

You might want to wait until the parts come in. I was told 7-10 business days.

Yeah do you have any docs or anything on this? I just picked up my car from the dealer specifically for squeaky brakes and he said "its normal" and just cleaned upt he rotors and brake pads. Didn't fix it of course

same here. cleaned the rotors/pads and added brake paste. seems like a temp fix for now but i'm sure in a week's worth of time they'll be back at it again.

I'll ask my CA if he'll share the TSB number when I pick up my BMW this evening.

not sure if it's because the temps have been getting (slightly, very slightly) warmer but the squeaking doesn't really happen anymore or as frequently/intense.

Took my car in this morning for some work and mentioned the squeaky brakes and that there was a service bulletin out but the SA could not find anything and said it was normal to have some squeaks. The mechanic could not find anything wrong with the clunky rear suspension either. Not having luck finding a decent service dept at all. My selling dealer has been the worst- not addressing customer concerns and damaging body and interior trim everytime I bring the car in.

FWIW, I had squeaky brakes also between 2k-5.5k miles. Brought the car to BMW twice pre-TSB and was unable to have anything done as they were "operating normally". The brakes have since stopped squealing and I'm currently at 6.7k miles with nothing ever done to "repair" them. So in my case the squealing stopped on its own and I hope it doesn't return.

Red face Squeaky Brakes..F30 M Sport (N20)

Today I went to BMW Chigwell center to get my F30 Mineral Grey 320i M sport N20 (she is beauty) checked after receiving BMW recall on brake power assistance system. I also mentioned that the brakes makes noise when approaching traffic lights, slow stopping etc.

The team manager who was managing my case gave me a shocker that I should not be braking softly but should be a bit aggressive on breaks which will dislodged the dust on break pads and make it less noisy. I mentioned that I get th car regularly cleaned so there shouldn't be any dust issue. Honestly I was a bit surprised after hearing him out. He also mentioned that sorting squeaky brakes would be out of warranty which came as another shocker.

My car is less than year old purchased on July 2013. I am also having minor issue with M Sport steering wheel which feels a bit too hard after cold start.

Can you all please advise on this?

It's actually in the manual. Rotors that don't see enough braking action can develop a layer of rust/corrosion. Can be exacerbated by hosing down your rotors or parking next to sprinklers.
