2014 ASS for 2012/2013 cars?

Has anyone taken their cars in for rough ASS? It's very rough on my car, and my lights flicker and my car charger displays a low voltage sign when the engine kicks back in. Anyway, I've noticed the 2014 cars have a much more refined ASS so I'm curious if BMW would replace it with the 2014 parts if the 2012/2013 car was too rough

I have a 2014 and my ASS isn't particularly smooth. I saw a post (can't find it now) that said after a software update ASS on a 2013 was much smoother and didn't shut the car off until 3 seconds or so after stopping. My car shuts off immediately upon stopping and starting up isn't what I'd call smooth. Not sure though. Been a while since I drove a 2013 so I can't recall if there's a difference.

I have a MY14 and A.S.S. is OK. I also have the November 2013 software upgrade installed so I'm fairly up to date. Car shuts off immediately. Restarts seem to shutter less than the MY13 I had.

My car was at the dealer recently and the auto start/stop is noticeable different. If i am on a hill, the car would turn off but turn on straight away as i am only slightly on the brake. Now, the car would sit for a couple of seconds and would turn off even on the hill.

On a side, shifts from 1st to 2nd have been jerky

Did you have the software programming recall done on your car?

Just had the software recall done (13' 328i x-Drive) and the ASS is definitely better but I still wouldn't describe it as smooth. Before I would shut it off, but now I leave it on.

I programmed it off. ASS is a pain in my ass. Should be an option for USA cars.

Oh ok, so I've had the software recall done. Didn't realize it did anything to ASS. Mine didn't feel any different after the software. I usually turn it off if I know the light is going to change soon or in traffic, but I leave it on for longer lights and stuff.

Mine must have the software update as it has been pretty smooth since picking the car up late last year. I leave it on most of the time and only turn off for creeping traffic and metering lights. Works pretty well for most stop lights where the car would otherwise be mindlessly running for minutes.

Either it was terrible before or I have a low expectation of refinement having come from a Subaru (right answer is probably a bit of both).

I have a MY12 328i but have driven multiple MY14 loaners and there is a huge difference between the smoothness of my ASS compared to the newer models. My ASS is jumpy! (I just love the acronym) the new ones are barely noticeable.
