When the temps outside reaches 37 F it will flash this to warn you of ice and slick road....

Do not panic, you have 5 more degrees before water freezes, just turn the heat on and keep yourself warm...

It just flashes and beeps, it shouldn't stay on the entire time...

Its a semi-friendly reminder that water on the road can freeze (or refreeze) before the temp drops to 32, especially on bridges/overpasses that have less mass to retain heat.

Exactly. But it's a reminder I don't need or want. When it beeps, I think there is a real issue.

It's actually come in handy for me on road trips; when driving long distances in spring or fall I don't usually pay attention to the outside temperature.

Granted it's usually of little help, but it's not completely worthless.

Imagine if every time the temperature went near freezing your wife said, "Honey, careful....there may be ice on the road". How long until she is walking?

This is going to be a piss-off when I've just hiked to my car in -40C weather. No shit its freezing!

A better implementation of this 'feature' would have been to only activate the alarm if the temperature drops below freezing after you have already started driving. Meaning that when you jump in your car on a cold day, it dosen't tell you anything. However on a fall/spring day or something when you jump in your car and start driving and it is not freezing, but it gets colder to the point of freezing while your cruising along, then activate the damn icon in case you weren't paying attention to the temp while cruising.

I just got a software update and it only beeps once for the snowflake.

I seem to remember that it used to beep twice.
