Tire Question

So the reviews online state the M235i's everyone got to drive in Las Vegas were shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. However on our build sheets the M235i comes with Run Flats. The only Super Sports I know that are run flats were specifically designed for the new 2014 Corvette.

Anyone know anything more about this? Did they put better tires on for the journalists in Vegas?

All m235's in the US come standard with "mixed summer performance tires" which are MPSS, if your build sheet says you are getting run flats then the dealer you ordered from selected them over the MPSS. This was something I had to deal with at the dealer too as they were confused as to why the run flats were a selectable option and not standard to which I had to explain to them what I stated above

yep had the exact same issue with my dealer. My first order was also marked with run-flats. Was yours also marked with all-season tires? I think those two options might be dependent on each other. I had my dealer change mine, and my car shows nothing selected which means you get the default mixed Summer tires. My car is at the port ready to ship now.

Same in the uk, run flats are a no cost option but not the default.

FWIW. There doesn't appear to be an option on the specifications sheet for Australia. The 220i and 220d get run-flats and the M235i has no option for the run-flats at all.

Specs here: http://www.bmw.com.au/com/en/newvehi...ationGuide.pdf

Similar to Canada; we get perf rft std with an option only for a/s rft. My ca said he couldn't sub non-rft.

I just drove in a heavy downpour and the Michelin PSS tires (sport mode) are awesome on the highway and streets!!! Thunder and lightning for the next 10 hours in Toronto!

My Canadian m235i definitely does not have run flats. Had to sign a waiver and had PSS. Your ca lied. It's even on the online Configurator...

Maybe, but I wouldn't go there first.

My ca just didn't know better, he had no motivation to sell me a car with the tire option I didn't want, & when I called the BMW USA help line the lady insisted that the M235i only comes with run flats.

Issue is straightened out on my car and if one reads specs close the right information is written down, but there is definitely some bad information floating about.

This will be the first one at my dealership, so maybe things will get better figured out as more of these hit the road. Weird to me that any dealer would not have ordered at least one of these by now ??? Maybe the allotment sales business was just too good ?

That was a post from early February. Turns out the info in the initial Canadian pricing guide was wrong. My CA's a great guy. He just reported the wrong info that BMW Canada gave him.

See some other threads in late Feb or early March on the same issue. Happy to report that I got the Michelin PSS non-rft on delivery of the car at the Welt.

Fair enough I don't really read post dates.

Just working to disseminate read information as often as possible on this forum and this was bumped way up. Particularly when someone implies something about Canadian cars (not that many users on here to confirm or deny).
