I'm guessing 2003-2005 E60. I would get it inspected most likely a salvage title at that price can never be too careful.

Are suspension checks such as axle checks and overall suspension checks normal services ?

It's a 150k v8. I don't understand everyone wanting to buy the cheapest BMW possible. I don't want to sound like a dick, but shouldn't one have other priorities? Like if you can't afford a sound BMW, why bother when you should be focusing on more important things.

Wouldn't be at the top of my list. Take it to the dealer and get a whatever-point inspection. I would avoid without warranty though bills can go higher than the actual value of the car.

At the same time it's kind of sad how much they originally cost and their value now. Anyone off the street who don't really know cars would still think it costs 20-30k even though it is a lot less.

you want to replace your 7yr old 328 with a 10yr old 5series? i hope you realize that car still requires maintenance as a $60k car.

I wouldn't buy a bmw with that many miles ,
But no matter what car you buy you should always get it inspected by a mechanic and run a carfax / auto check

If I remember correctly op has an e90 but wanted to get this with tax return. 545 is a great car. I should know I had one. Chad20 I see your in north valley as im in Fresno. Have you looked in bay area for what you are looking for. I found that most higher mileage cars there are freeway miles. Generally a better selection. Since I believe you know a good indy take it there and inspect. The missing engine cover is probably past owner did diy and didn't bother to put back on. If it checks out clean offer 8k you'll love the power

Not to many miles works out to be about 15k a year.

I have done a lot of searching in the Bay Area I bought my e90 from San Mateo . The reason I say this one and at this point I'm not in any rush cause I still have my car but this place that owns the 545i is willing to trade me straight across , I made the offer to him

remember to add $10k for the coolant leak. Now you're up to $18,995, plus whatever else it needs. I will say this again, nobody gives cars away, when they're in the car business. Whomever buys this car gets swindled and pimped. But the seller knows there's a sucker born every minute.

Stay away from it, you're going to spend thousands of dollars to fix that car, because you will find a new problem with it everyday.

The mileage doesnt bother me. Yes, stuff will break because of the age but you are buying a car that was expensive when new and you are still getting the engineering, driving pleasure and everything else the car had when new. Getting a used BMW for half off or more is fine. What does bother me is that it sounds beat up and was driven by people who could care less. That would make me walk away. You can find a better example somewhere else.

No Nav, Broken cup holders, Missing engine cover..Hell no..If they were to lazy to put the engine cover back on then they were too lazy to take care of it.

I think this is what John is referring to, this is a $1600 fix. Click on the video of the 745 engine repair.

Not sure if this is an issue on the year model, any service records on this 545i?

i agree.

few buddies of mine buy cars like that and they are home mechanics. both get fucked every time something breaks. CL500 w/100k+ broke and sold for $6-7k loss, SL500/550 AMG only like 60-70k also broke and lost about $5-6k, Range Rover w/110k same story....His new toy is 06 Cayenne Turbo with 75k, so far holding up Its funny that my 06 Honda with 60k is the same price as his Cayenne Turbo Its a nice car and all, and if i wasnt worried about it falling a part, i could probably see myself driving it instead of S2k

Ya the broken interior parts make me nervous . But really even with having all the work done at an independent mechanic you still think repairs will be 3,000 plus yearly with 10,000-12000miles driven a year ?
