2006 325I; Airbag light & Seat belt light on
Hey all so im driving today to work and all of a sudden i look down and notice that the Red lights for Seat belt & Air bag are illuminated? Nothing happened i was just driving, so i didnt have time to look at it because i had to get into work, when i took my lunch i was reading some stuff on here and remember there's a Recall going on for 2006 325I's upon other early model e90s for a bad passenger sensor mat or something in that matter. So i go out to my car, put the key in, dont start it and it already illuminates the seatbelt & airbag light again, So i just checked my connections under both seats and are fine (as they should be) and then i just decide to click the Passenger seat belt in (because i read that it could be the seatbelt sensor or something like that) and when i clicked the passenger seat belt the above notifier(by sunroof control's) for "passenger air bag is off" became illuminated???! Does this mean i have the recall symptoms?? If not what do you think it is?
Thanks all for your help. |

I have the recall on my 325 .
I have the recall on my 325 .
There was a guy the had just bought a car on bimmerfest had the same problem and his dealer wasn't acknowledging the recall. I put my vin number in this BMW recall app and it shows I don't have a recall yet I have the recall letter in my hands. I would call the customer relations number in the link above and see what they say. Last edited by ctuna; 02-26-2014 at 11:52 PM.. |

In the US all the e90 325's are 06 models regardless.

The build date might be in 05 but it still and 06 model. Although I thought they didn't start building the e90's till mid summer. Like August or September. At least I think that's the way it goes. Last edited by ctuna; 03-03-2014 at 07:27 PM.. |

the coupe genraly follows the sedan
the coupe generally follows the sedan by a year when
there is a design change. But its still the e46 in this case I think just like it did with the F30's. But they changed the series number this time. 06 was the only year for 325 e90's I believe and also there were a lot of e46 325's in the US but the US market is different than the world market where the 325 and 323 still live on . And where we never got 320's till this year. Most here talk about the US models defacto and don't take into account what the rest of the world gets, as we don't see it. If its a December 05 build its still an 06 model they begin building the 06 model generally in the middle of the preceding year. Build dates do not equate to model numbers, since car companys can start the build of the new model at any time an define it as next years model. So I guess I am wrong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_3_S...5.E2.80.932013 But it seems strange to me I never see an 05 e90 mentioned here before. This implys its a 2006 model http://www.reveuro.com/buyers-guide/...eries/e90.html Last edited by ctuna; 03-03-2014 at 08:14 PM.. |

Two ways to fix it...when I searched a lot of people were just bypassing the sensor with an emulator since it's less expensive and takes less work. I fixed it by replacing the OC3 mat (and seat foam it's attached to by extension) and re-coding the car with the new mat as once I replaced it I had a code stating the OC3 wasn't "released" and the solution was to re-code the module. I'm not sure what a dealer would charge, but the part was ~$700 and I did all the work myself in a couple of hours.
