Question Extended Warranty..

I am out of warranty for my 09 335i sedan (40,000kms), would it still be possible to purchase warranty from BMW, if not which third party warranty is the best?

thanks,
teddy

Are you still financing? You could ask your lender. They usually have partnerships with places. Prev owner passed his on to me like that from http://visionwarranty.net/. better than nothing.

I have AUL reserve plan 100,000 mile warranty. Exclusionary style. It tells you what isn't covered rather than what is. AND... I am ALLOWED to perform my own maintenance without voiding the warranty which isn't the case with many. $135 an hour cap on labor. Cost $2600. Many years of experience too.

Look into Carchex, they have different options and they recommend going to a BMW dealer for service. I had two issues and they approved the work within a few minutes while at the dealer. I came across the name through BMWCCA's forum.

Is this in canada too? And would anything turbo related be covered ? Or water pump ?

extended warranties are not worth it. Just set aside money every month and put it into an online money market savings at 0.0085. If you are like most people, you'll never withdrwaw. If you do have to withdraw, you'll still beat what you would have paid for the warranty. win-win

What a joke. You're better off buying a washer and dryer from Rent-A-Center.

Put $500/mo. into a money market for 6 mos. You're done. 5 years from now, you still will have that money in the acct. plus minimal interest. The notion of extended warranties is for scaredy cats. For every "I got free turbos!" there are 95 others who got zilch.

Start with less. It's not like you're cars going to have a catastrophic failure overnight. Its better than nothing. Just have to for these cars. Too much tech. Not always gonna be able to DIY especially if you aren't the type that minds getting their hands greasy.

have a little more faith in bmw

sorry but you would be pretty stupid to pay 177 dollars a month for a waranty you may not even use

If you can not afford a bmw maybe get a different car, honestly we all know what we signed up for when we got a 50 k car.

There are a lot of indy shops that do not charge an arm and a leg in toronto. Check the canadian section , lots of topics about shops in toronto

One last thing , why would you pay 500$ a month in insurance if you are student? , its not even worth it , there are better ways to spend your money. But it is your money , good luck

Well if he's financing the bank requires comprehensive/collision coverage which isnt cheap on these cars. And I don't think it's a good idea to drive around in a $30k car w/o it. That's just asking for trouble. He's probably in the same boat as me too. Too many points on my license and two totals on my record. even still mine's only like $300 so yeah idk Maybe CA is different though?

young bmw drivers are way worst than civic drivers here in toronto. As a matter of fact bmw drivers are the worst drivers in toronto according to many articles. Good luck finding a young bmw driver that signals or is not cutting everybody off. Older drivers are not so bad though

your money...

Back to your original post. Personally I think putting money away everymonth is a much better idea. Wost case scenario you can always pay off any repair with a loan (visa , parents loan , etc ,etc) and pay 200 a month .

As far as I know there is an extended warranty for the turbo on the 335s. I do not have one but I ve seen other topics on the extended warranty. Im not sure if this applies in canada too

300 is not too bad . Paying 500$ a month plus the cost of gas and maybe maintenance and going to school is just crazy... You are pretty much working just for your car, not even to pay your car but to just be able to drive it (legally)

I much rather drive a honda civic and spend my money going out or buying stuff. It would be pretty hard to spend all my hard earn money on a car. Again that is just me .
