228i ideal build

Every time I build my ideal 228i, it comes within several thousand dollars of a M235i. Thus, what do you think would be the ideal 228i build? Such that you'll building a well equipped car with the essential fun packages/options, but you're not approaching the price of a M235i - which would somewhat defeat the purpose of getting a 228i. Thanks!

I'm actually trying to decide between 228 and m235. Right now I want to stay within a certain budget.

If I get a M235 I would get Alpine White, Black Sensa, 6spd, HarmonC and Cold Weather Pckg. $45,450

If I get a 228 I would get Alpine White, Red Interior, Tech Package, Lighting Package, Handling Package, 6spd, M Sport Brakes and Harmon C. MSPRP: $43,750

Essentially going for 228 over M235 I get Red Interior and Tech Package and save $2K.

I will know better once I test drive the M235 tomorrow. I really liked the 228 I drove last weekend.

228i, M Sport, EBII, M Sport brakes, lighting package, tech package. That comes out to just over $40k.

If I were to get an EBII m235i with tech package, it'd be about $46,500. And I prefer the M Sport wheels to the M235i wheels, as well as the body matched mirrors

I went through the same dilemma. Basically if you load things up on a 228i to make it similar to a 235i, you'd end up with maybe a $3-4k difference. Of course that difference could be closer if you want to add addition things such as M sport brakes, adaptive suspension, etc. In the end, if the difference isn't that much you should go for the 235i.

After test driving both for extended drives yesterday I will be ordering a M235. I really liked the M-Sport 228 I drove. It felt lighter than the M235. However, the sound and feel of the M235 sold me. I loved the car so much I'm still thinking about it.

I think people need to realize that the 228i and 235i are actually two different cars, at least IMO. If you care about weight and just pure driving experience, the 228i is for you. If you go that route, you SHOULD NOT loaded it up with options. I mean what's the point if you're just going to add all of that weight back on. At that point you might as well spend a little bit more for the M 235i. In my mind, if I were a pure enthusiast who only cares about weight and driving dynamics, I would order a 228i with the M sport package, HK sound and that is it.

Can't imagine tech package adds a lot of weight.
