H&R Spacers = Vibrations !!
I installed H&R 10mm spacers all around, and noticed slight vibrations between 140-160 kmh (88-100 mph), it only started after installing the spacers !! 3 weeks have past and the vibrations are getting worse !!
I dont think its the spacers since I've already used H&Rs on my past car and had no issues what so ever .. Any thoughts are appreciated ..

Are the lugs torqued correctly? Is the rim seated properly on the flange of the spacer? Read the Special Notes on Rogue Engineering's site below. Probably similar potential issue with H&R spacers:

Well I wanted to do that, but I've been pretty busy lately, maybe tonight.

How do you not know? Dont you use a torque wrench to tighen your lugs? Oh, and you did tighten the lugs in a star pattern right?

I agree it sounds like the lugs arent torqued correctly, a bad spacer will show a vibration in its first 10 feet of movement - so I doubt its the spacer(thats not to say spacers cant be at fault there can always be some unforseen problem but it would be pretty rare with like an H&R which goes through QC).

After you check the torque on the bolts using the star pattern, check to make sure the areas behind the spacers were/are prepped. If you or your shop did not clean the hub area the right way, the spacers will not seat properly.

I typically torque my lugs to 90lbs.

Well I removed the spacers last night and no more vibrations, I guess I didnt torque the lugs correctly.
I'll take the car to the shop that I purchased the spacers from and ask them to install, and if that doesnt solve my problem I guess they'll refund.

I run 20mm spacers, H&R, no problems.
Torque them down properly, even if it is with a cheapo torque wrench, it is better than nothing. Also try torquing it in a star pattern. Make sure the wheel and hub surface is clean. You'd be amazed at how a small imperfection could cause large problems/vibrations at higher speeds. -Don |
