Can you repair run flats?

Had a horrible feelin the ticking noise that started yesterday on the rear drivers side was a nail, on inspection it is, its i spose 1/4 of the way in from the outside.
Can they be repaired? As i stil have 4-5mm tread on these.
A bloke i know who is a tyre fitter said he can repair but read a few bits and bobs that you shouldnt repair them

Yes they can be repaired as long as they haven't been runflat weakening the sidewall.

Also like normal tyres the nail can't be towards the edges.

yep,i have been running on a repaired rft for 8 months now ,they are no different to non rft's as long as they have not been driven on when flat

I went a month on a runflat with no air. No sidewall damage. Repair them as normal.

Some garages will repair and some will refuse.

Entirely upto the garage

You will find a plethora of garages that will not repair runflats. Your best bet is to try a local/small tyre shop (if you trust them with your wheels).

Or just buy a $5 plug kit and do it yourself.

think the rule is if its within an inch of the side wall it cant be repaired otherwise should be ok

A bit late..... But yep u sure can. Had mine repaired a year ago and its still going strong.

My very first post. Thought I chime in on this one. I just had my left rear repaired yesterday by my local Americas Tire store. So my answer is yes. BTW I have Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. Cheers.

Theres no pressure loss, well the system has not told me there has been yet, so they havent been run flat, il take it to my mate saturday then get it sorted.

Welcome to the forum, yeh same tyres that are on mine.
I wouls swap them out for non run flats, but my next car will be an e93 and i want warranty so chances are ill just chop it in and bmw will want run flats on it
