Install Backup Camera?

anyone know if i can easily add the backup camera to my m235i? i have nav & the technology package & was wondering if it's plug-n-play. if parts aren't available yet, will the parts from another model (1-series, 3-series) work? if someone has done this to another vehicle, how easy was it?

tia!

Check this video out, ignore the music or better yet watch on mute. Pretty straight forward, I'd check with parts department to find out exact camera to get but otherwise seems like running the wire from trunk to front is the labor-intensive part.

For $15 with no questions asked returns I am 100% going to try this before ripping my car completely apart to run the wire. Worst case scenario it doesn't work and proceed with standard solution.

http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Trans.../ref=pd_cp_e_0

They also have a similar solution with camera included, but I would prefer the BMW OEM camera.

This is the one:
http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...amera-retrofit

You put the car in reverse and it will activate the camera on the screen.
Installation is not difficult:
- replace your trunk handle with the new one with integrated camera
- run single cable from the camera to the dahsboard
- connect the camera module to the screen and head unit
- no coding required

I'd like to see the DIY as well. See what it involves before purchasing. I have tech and prem package.

Eddiestl, yes. I just went through this with Patryk at BimmerTech. After asking a million questions I put in an order for mine. I have an M235i without Nav, but with iDrive 6.5 inch screen.

Cool. Any recommendations on which camera to buy. I have noticed so that are pretty affordable. Is the OEM better?

I'm just going to use what came in the bimmertech package I ordered. I trust their judgment.
