m235i bov/diverter valve?
Does anyone know if the m235i has any of thee? I'm in the process of making aftermarket purchases and want to buy everything together. n54tuning said m235i don't have these?
i have a tial Q just sitting around my garage from my old car, and would rather make sure of it. |

Forge have just developed one on my F21 car so try and contact them. They've also just done an intercooler and a charge pipe too..... ;-)

Diverter valve is still mounted on the turbo. Forge take a vacuum line from this and mount the BOV remotely..

My friends M135i already makes this "pooosht" noise when lifting off the throttle. Does all N55 cars come with this sound from factory, or is it Mx35i specific, or did the previous owner install an aftermarket POV?
PS this video we made yesterday of his M135i vs my Z4 OEM/ESS might be of interest to you as well http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...php?p=15968398 |

Hello. I recently installed the Forge BOV on the m235i. Here's the link to the review and a short clip of the sound.

Hi Yolo89. Thanks! Yeah, the Forge BOV isn't the most aggressive sounding one out there, but I guess some people prefer their BOV to be less loud and noticeable. I like it louder though.

This might be a dumb question but I've had my m235i for 1 year so it is still under the 4 year warranty period. By getting this BOV installed, would it void that warranty? So do I have to remove it every time I go for scheduled maintenance like oil change, etc.?

If you like this noises then just change your intake. I have the BMS - makes the same noises, but in a more analogue way.

You really shouldn't use a bov on a maf regulated car. It will cause rich conditions coming back into throttle after you release that metered air the dme thinks is still in the intake track to atmosphere..
Also a vacuum controlled bov or diverter vlave is not going to be as fast as the electric diverter valve that the dme controls. Bottom line is this controls an essential function that protects your turbo, it's not there just to sound cool. BMW does it better than forge trust me So are you guys saying that the forge unit gets installed and you leave the oe diverter valve in place? |

http://www.forgemotorsport.com/Blow_...uct--1358.html Here are the fitting instructions. http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/?download_id=108 I got this installed and it doesn't sound like the white one in the video. His sounds like what a normal bov should sound like. Mine doesn't have the sharp whistling noise when the throttle is let go. Instead it sounds like it keeps either sucking or blowing air, it just has the whoosh sound without the sharp psssst sound. The engine light has turned on and there is this weird, I call it a rough gear change from 3rd to 4th when accelerating at a normal rpm of 2-3000 rpm. I have an automatic transmission. The error code says air mass volume too high. The bov has been removed and installed again, with the same results. I'm changing back to stock, but would you have any idea what the problem is. The fitting instructions are for the right hand driver model, I have a left hand driver in Canada. Many things in the installation guide is different. Thanks. |

As indicated, you should avoid those pneumatic BOVs on a MAF regulated system.
If you want a more robust design than OEM, just install GFB DV+. On to Off to On is stellar with it, no error code is triggered and it can handle plenty of boost... Even installation is easier than Forge one... |

GFB DV+ has been very popular lately. A lot of guys are finding out their stock DV have been leaking. So this has improved throttle and boost response. It adds a little more noise but nothing like an atmospheric BOV.

GFB BOV vs Forge
Quote:
I have finally diagnosed my problem and what I thought was a weak hpfp issue has turned out to be a bad DV. I also have been looking at he GFB DV that basically retains the stock BMW unit but replaces the valve body with one that is made from Aluminum instead of the cheap and weak factory plastic one. For only $140 it seems to me as a "no brainer". As far as the loud noise that you get from some BV's I am fine with nothing louder than stock. I guess you get to a point where "sounding cool" is not a buying feature but something of more one's personal taste. Where as myself if it does not improve the performance of the vehicle than it would not interest me. So I take it you would agree with my choice of the GFB DV as a replacement for my failing factory unit? Many Thanks, David
