BMW has my car reaching port on 3/29 but nothing since -- 800 # has been cycling back and forth between in transit and on carrier to port of exit. Assuming I missed the 3/29 boat is the next one out to baltimore not till 4/9 ?

Shipping lines have a cutoff that is typically about a week before departure where both the car and export paperwork must be present. There are no exceptions to these cutoff dates. The departure on 4/9 would provide ample time to make the deadline. Last edited by five3three; 03-31-2014 at 09:36 PM.. |

My car is supposed to be done April 3, any chance it makes the boat on the 9th? Already booked a flight to go pick it up if I miss that boat I might be screwed.

As I mentioned earlier, since BMW does not run the shipping lines and these are "RoRo" ships that anyone can ship on, they have the same rules to follow as anyone else. Cutoff is about one full week before departure. This is needed to allow for time to clear customs for export as well as to keep order. Cutoffs are set by the port and all vehicles must be checked and ready to load by that date so that once the ship arrives to port, the cars/trucks/etc that have been set aside for it get loaded and the ship departs. Usually a ship only spends about 24 hours at any given port. Some people may think it's like a flight where you book it and just show up an hour before departure and expect to board but this is not even close to how ocean transport works. More than likely, yes (I'm assuming it was already trucked to the port, right?). Of course there are always exceptions such as a voyage being full and it being pushed back to the next one but that's not a common scenario since we're not talking about somewhere massively congested like Newark. But, if that happened, you have the one on the 11th to fall back on! |

https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage just put in your VIN, no spaces. A little off topic: Hope your boat wont completely miss a port and have to turn around adding more delays. Last edited by 1Mike1; 04-01-2014 at 09:30 PM.. |

So my car is scheduled to finish on the 4th. (I think supposed to go to Baltimore) Any chance I get on the boat scheduled for the 11th? Or is the 17th more likely? (Based on what I can see as far as boats from Bhaven to Baltimore.

You're more likely to land the 17th since it probably won't get to the port in time for the 11th.

Thanks for the feedback. If it does end up on that boat, it's not terrible, because it's a faster boat, so only lose like 2 days. Unless it goes to a different port or shipping line altogether. But excited for her Bday tomorrow!

My car finished up on the 29th and still does not say it's "en route to U.S" (I'm down in Florida) I'm going by the My BMW page on the website, is that typically accurate or delay involved? Will I probably end up on the 4/9 boat or will that be different since I'm down south?
