I just use the standard stuff nowadays... doesn't make much difference to me now at these prices. I would rather only use the ultimate or V-power for country runs.
It is crazy taxation to fund more looting and destruction of foreign lands! |

Ive just spotted on fleabay........... 5 litres for £55 plus £6.50 delivery. By my calculation at a total cost of £61.50, it would be equivalent to £6.50p per 500ml. That's a gnats over 1p per litre.......... that's got to be a bargain!! All that's needed is a measure to ensure only 60ml goes in a full tank I do 30,000 miles per year so if you assume at the very best there will be a 5p premium for Ultimate over normal diesel, I will save 4p per litre and thats £120 a year. That goes a long way towards the road tax!! |

Until Lech Walesa has pipped good old Gordon Brown to the post of PM I think that you are going to have to lay off the Poles on this one.
Blame the Scottish instead. After all there was a reason why Hadrian decided to get stuck into the building game. In AD 122 he clearly had an inkling that a smug fat git would cause the English major problems. Better to invest in a bit of masonry in cumbria than a white elephant in Stratford ......... |

Unfortunately fuel is such a necessary commodity that the Government can pretty well do what they like in terms of taxation.
You need it,they know it,we pay it! In all honesty I never look at the price per litre,I just grimace when I've filled it and gone to pay. It's not that I'm rich or anything,it is just needed for day - day living, what choice does Joe Public have? |

Company fuel card means £1500 in tax. If I ever drove my D sensibly this would be circa 9 - 10,000 of personal mileage to break even.
I am lucky if I do half that ....... |

Hmmn .. it seems that the best option would be to take cash in leiu of a company car. Then instead of having a fuel card, simply pay for all your petrol using your company credit card and have your personnel people declare the cost associated with personal mileage to the taxman as a benefit in kind. That way you are reimbursed fully for your business miles and pay tax on your personal mileage at the prevailing rate. For a 40% taxpayer this is equivalent to a 60% discount on the price at the pump. Works for me |

but isnt that illegal, and not helping the company out but helping you out more. If it was your own company you would not do this right..?!
Surely your emlpoyer could just say ''Fuck you'' when you ask that request!

Yeah - we did that but had some hassle with HMRC.
We claim for business miles driven at about 27p (in the fleet car) so its not too bad. The company hires a parking space for me at £4000 pa, pays the congestion charge (£2,000 pa) and, best of all, gives me a fully loaded 335 to play in. |
