M5 vs Mazda Speed 3

Yes you read the title correctly

Just a rather funny story I had to share.

On my way into work this morning I was on a 360 degree up ramp I take every day going from one lower interstate to another overpass. It's pretty fun if there is nothing in front of me. I don't push it hard around the ramp but usually keep a pretty good clip right around 60 or so which is the speed limit on the interstate and well within the limits of the car.

Well this morning there was a red Mazda speed 3 (I think?) about 2 or 3 car lengths in front of me taking the same exit so I kept the distance and his speed probably about 50 wasn't really paying attention (all suspension etc set to comfort) until I notice white smoke from his rear tires and the rear of the car stepping out towards the top of the ramp. I immediately slowed down as I thought he was going to lose it.

Given the look he gave me when I pulled up beside him at the light at the next exit I am sure he was patting himself on the back that he "smoked me" around the ramp. When the light turned and he zoom zoom zoomed away I just slowly rolled away laughing.

It's crazy out there. Just this weekend a regular Mazda 3 tried racing me in my M3. Old Volvo tried racing me from a signal light, gotta let them have at it sometimes.
