hyperblack 2 anthracite 0

are the hyperblack dark enough to really stand out from hyper silver? i want dark but not so dark that it's hard to see detail of the spokes...if that makes sense. that's what i worry about with anthracite

Hyper Black is about as bright as silver, but much bolder. You won't regret going with the color. I have the same set on my E90.

Thanks for your input. I was actually leaning towards anthracite to really stand out from my stock silver star-spoke alloys, which I would dedicate for winter. but it sounds like you can't go wrong with hyper black. tough choice...

anyone know if arc-8 anthracite is very close in color/finish to vmr's gunmetal on the v810, for example?

anyone else have an opinion - even if you don't have this wheel?

Garage List
Anthracite.
My 193's are powder coated in Anthracite and I love them. I'm sure they'll look great in AW

hyperblack 2 anthracite 3

I think anthracite will win out for me because my current wheels, which will be dedicated for winter, are silver and I want plenty of contrast from those.

Now on to determining if I can squeeze 265's on the rear without too much fender modification or if I should stick with 255's.

Thanks for making my decision harder

Your car looks excellent. Wheels look darker than many other pictures I've seen. I understand how that finish can really look different depending on the lighting.

Sorry to take a tangent in my own thread but what are the wheel and tire specs you have? I'm going back and forth between 255 or 265 in the rear (and 225 or 235 up front). The wheels I would get are 18x8.5 et38 front and 18x9.5 et35 rear. It's the rear 265 that I worry about, even with a fender roll. I don't plan to do much more modification than a standard roll.

U should b fine with 265 as long as offsets are not aggressive

You're welcome =)

Wheels are 18x9.5 +35 all around.

Michelin PSS
Front: 235/40/18 with 5mm spacer (required for my setup) - No rubbing
Rear: 265/35/18 - Fenders rolled. Rubs on plastic inner liner when gas tank is full or with 4 people in the car.

Lowered on ST coilovers with less than a finger gap all the way around.

BTW, they're only dark when dirty (first pic), but they shine bright when they're fresh and clean (2nd pic - bad angle).

What do YOU think looks better on your car, since I am guessing none of the people responding here owns your car.

thanks for the opinion about color and fitment. i might be comfortable with 265 PSS on the rear but rubbing could depend on how much space i save on the fender roll - which I will do when i get new wheels with tires...some minor rubbing with full load is acceptable since it would be on rare occasion. does 265 look significantly more aggressive than 255?

joed, yeah people responding here do not own my car; they just own the same model in the same color running the same wheel in one of the same two colors that i like. i like both colors/finishes. maybe hyperblack on the driver side and anthracite on the passenger side lol...

265 vs 255 all depends on what you plan to do with power. If you're going to be keeping the car stock other than wheels and suspension, then there's no need for the extra 10mm of road contact patch.

I'm running 265 on mine and I wish I could go another 10mm to get more traction. As far as aggressiveness goes, 265 is only slightly wider than 255. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Here are my hyper black 17x9 ET 30's with 255/40/17 Pilot Sport A/S 3's all around. One is a close-up on the center cap where you can see the color of the wheel.

Interesting info, thanks. I have BMW's Performance Power Kit & exhaust but not much else to go with it - except for a V1 The power is a nice little bump (that i don't notice anymore) and the sound is incredible (which I notice everyday but Cobb is in my scope... Tracking is something I'm interested in but not ready for quite yet. For now, I'm just trying to complete the wheel look with a quality lightweight contrasting but not overly dark color to my AW car...

Thanks for input on a 17" setup and the pictures. Looks mean. great options out there! notice lots of square setups with aggressive front - not just rear. I seem to prefer staggered but square setup with the aggressive front as well is worth a hard look.

I got a good sense now of hyperblack, at least in regular lighting conditions. Still looking at pictures of anthracite...I'll be happy with either, but it's fun being picky about this stuff. will try to sell my stock wheels and tires and then maybe pull the trigger on these arc 8's. or just buy these and be done, and dedicate my others to winter...ohh the difficulties of life LOL
