Will there be an M Performance power kit?

...somewhere in the near future for the M3/4 ? Almost all engines have this option now, so I wonder if there is a chance the will also introduce it in the M range...anyone heard/read anything about it?

Wouldn't it be absurd if this wasn't already a standard tune?

meaning? I don't really get it, my bad...
Even diesels can get a PPK these days, I ordered the drivers package which shifts the limitor to 280km/h (I believe, might be 275 too) so I was wondering if a mild tune would be offered by BMW in the future...

Doubtful. But I would expect a competition package at some point with a power bump, just like the M5/M6.

I see...not a drama, but it would be nice to beat my diesels 620Nm of torque ...

As other posters have stated, I'd be more willing to bet on a competition package on future versions of the car than a post-production OEM tune for this year's versions.

Yes, at least in Germany you can order the drivers package, which increase the vmax to 280 km/h.

+1 should be available any time soon after the first year of production. I wouldn't expect massive gains. More in line with the CP M5/M6 ~20PS.

I don't expect BMW to release a M Perf. upgrade for these type of cars. These are mostly available for the 'lower' level cars ie. non-M. (120d, M135i,..)
Cars they know will be tuned eventually, so why wouldn't they try to steal sales from tuners

m5\m6 get more power, because they get the Akra exhaust inthe CP. So the Performance exhaust will be available foe the m3\m4 too and it will increase a little bit he power and reduce weight.

Yeah... I'm not seeing anything like that in the Canadian order guide; is that the case for our American neighbours as well?

CP exhaust on M5/6 does not increase power at all. M5/6 had power increase to be able to drop the quoted 0-100 times to compete with the M3/4. It seems a bit silly as most stock M6 tested seem to have about 620 ps to start with. BMW couldn't have the M4 being quicker than the flagship M 6. I don't believe very much on quoted power outputs theses days but I cannot believe there will be a CP apart from a few fancy colours, trims and wheels , oh and increased price!

The new M3/M4 is actually the fastest and highest performing BMW ever made. This was already stated by M Division. The upcoming generation of M5/M6 will surpass once again straight line performance but very doubtful on a track. Its the same pattern that happened with last generation and so on.

That I'd also like to find out. Haven't found any information on that for the US yet. If someone has a hint on that... let us know

When I ordered mine I was offered this but turned it down, for the present. Its around €2,000 and a man comes from BMW with a laptop and a CD and turns the Vmax off. You also get a driver training course with it so that BMW can't be sued in the case of you you having an accident in a too fast car. I found that pretty silly as my current car (Alpina B3 Biturbo) is rated at 285km/h and the Alpina that I had ordered but had to turn down due to a years waiting list is rated at 305 km/h. Maybe after a couple of thousand km of being harassed by BMW 5 series and Audi drivers I might get it!

Sorry you are wrong - if you do not order the drivers package the car is limited to 250 km/h

Sorry you are right

When you download the brochure, it says 250.

The official Homepage "technical data" says 280. Interesting question, if BMW must upgrade my car for free later. I will definitley not get, what they advertise...

There is also no "drivers package" option in the official configurator. My dealer not told me as well.

I agree with those that think the comp package will increase power slightly (just like on the F10 M5).

It's not on the bmw website configurator, but at the one the dealer is using...it is indeed around 2K, including M driving courses, but you can order it afterwards too, but then it's a tad more expensive... I just don't want to be flashed by some porker at 250 on the autobahn ... And it's a bit silly that my 330d has the same (limited) top speed, so I had to take it ...

In fact, it's not taking Vmax off, but setting it on 280 iso 250...the car can go faster...
Alpina is ...
