2014 335i 12.9 @ 108mph

I just got back from the track and am a little disappointed in my times. I forgot my computer to log the runs, but the car felt great and pulled hard. I am running on Map 2, intake and 40% E85. Also, tires were Continental DWS(All-seasons). My 60 ft was 1.9 on that run. Oh, and the X5 next to me was my wife. :-) The fastest time I got in her car was a 14.6. Her first time racing so she was a bit nervous.

My wife runs a consistent 13 flat at 105mph with her 335GT with just stage one - and it is a heavier car - I would think you should be around 12.6 with your car at about 108- need to get the 60ft time down - every 1/10 off 60ft is a average of 2/10 final ET - if you are manual stage deep - if you are auto stage shallow - makes a difference - pre-load turbo to 2000 - if auto use manual shift mode and shift at 5800rpm - her best run using paddle shiftters was 12.88 but the times are not as consistent and she races street eliminator where RT and consistency are the key.
- my friends X3 3.5 runs right at 14.0

I forgot to add it is nice to see another 1/4 racer on here - it is a lot of fun - on a side note I drive a 2013 Mustang GT/CS fbo - low 12 sec car (maybe high 11 this year) and if we do handicap tree the wife beats me three out of 4 times - my excuse is I am 6 speed and she is auto with 4 wheel drive but bottom line she is better off the line than I am - that hurt to say!!!

108 MPH is a little on the weak side given your mods/fuel. At what RPM were you shifting?

remember not the MPH that counts it is the ET - seen cars do 112 MPH but over 13 sec - 1/4 mile racing is about getting there in a hurry - not how fast you are going when you arrive

Frankly, I couldn't care less about ET...it's just an indicator of how well a car launches. I never launch any of my cars on the street, and I don't think most adults do either on a regular basis. What is done on more regularity than a full boil launch from 0 is going wide open throttle, be it while passing, merging on the freeway, or just for fun. Trap speed tells you how the car accelerates in that regard...real world acceleration at speed and power delivery.

Yes, ET wins races on a drag strip, but it's close to meaningless on a street. Where your acceleration is almost never done from a standstill. On a prepped surface. Which is perfectly flat. On a road which is safe to come to a stop on yet has no cross-traffic. With properly warmed tires.

you are correct but the man was talking about 1/4 drag racing - not on the street and that is what I responded to - My Mustang will do over 160 but where the hell am I going to do that - Drag Racing is a sport where RT is also key - Everyone to their own - My wife's 335 Gt is a rocket from 60 to 120 but still cannot touch the Mustang - Again he was talking about drag racing not street racing which the last time I heard was not legal - so bottom line the 108 means crap in drag racing the subject of the thread!!!!!
