Music on hard drive?
I just ordered a M235i and saw that 20GB on the nav hard drive is reserved for music files. Does anyone know how this is loaded onto the drive (USB?) and what type of files will work? I am guessing that MP3s will work, but will any other type of file play? Thanks for the help.

On my wife's 335 there's a USB port in the glove box you can use to transfer music. I haven't checked in my 235 yet to see if that's the same though.

Its in the navigation manual. The answer is you go to your USB source, then you push to the right until you get the options menu (or hit option button) and I can't remember either do it from that menu or in the manage music menu on there.
Read the manual, as there are some caveats, like you don't want to do a backup/restore unless its your whole collection, as a restore will delete your entire collection and replace it. You can move from USB to HD without hurting your collection, though. |

I tried to import from a usb stoick and only one song transferred over. I also do not get the loading screen showing progress of copying. Will test another thumb drive.

Couple of things quickly I just literally copied my three series hard drive to a USB stick in the manage storage option and chose export to USB. When I got the new car I put in the USB stick and chose import. It's that simple. In terms of iTunes the car has Bluetooth so when your phone syncs via Bluetooth it will have all of your music and phone directory and everything accessible from Idrive. Also as you play each CD for the first time in your car it will save to your hard drive. And then you no longer have to put in the CD. It's a beautiful thing.
