BMW is reading...

Hey look at this thread, seems BMW NA at least is reading, although it took a few days and the username has very few posts so probably just watches:-

There is a lot more going on behind the scenes than we may think. I'm aware of guys in the motor industry watching the forums. Sometimes third party interests with an ear inside the likes of BMW.

One problem is "forum chatter", as it is often referred to, has both positive and negative influence on the manufacturers and garages.

From my own personal experience BMW do prefer a one to one dialog with users. Whether that is at the dealer, via BMW CS, or with an individual within BMW, like an Area Technical Manager. Forum 'power' tends to be resisted. An example would be a customer going into a dealer and "demanding" a software upgrade to solve a perceived fault, because internet forum members have decided that is the solution.

... and for PIGS sake, give your phone integration to a software developer who knows what the PIG they are doing. Common, emails still not working despite being announced as 'available' in 2010?? Really???

Either that, or rename the OFFICE menu to something more truthful, such as NOT_OFFICE_OR_EMAILS?!?

Definitely agree with this.

I was a BMW service advisor when the new Mini was launched. At the time the biggest forum for the new Mini was a website called Mini2.com. We used to get customers coming in and demanding this and that was done to their car because they'd read it on a forum that someone somewhere had had it done to their car. Nearly always they didn't actually have the problem they were demanding a fix for!

I came to loathe and curse that website!

This is an interesting point, as we are dealing with world markets (which could well be the main influence for specification) and there still seems to be little knowledge on exactly what suspension specification the M-sport xDrives are fitted with, other than it is not the lowered M-sport suspension.

I know the part numbers of dampers and associated parts can be different, and there is still no real clarity about xDrive suspension, but one thing still puzzles me on the upgrade to Adaptive M-sport suspension...

If you upgrade on say the Luxury line, the cost is £750, if you do so from the M-sport it costs LESS, at £515. There appears to be something different of added value in the M-sport model's suspension... what is it? Already a partial upgrade?

I don't know where the differences are, for example does the M-sport already have an upgraded/firmer suspension, compared to the Luxury line?

BMW, if you are reading this, ignore all the other rubbish suggestions above and focus on one thing and one thing only:

M3 Touring.

Come on. Fingers out, if you'd be so kind.

Well their appears to be a lot of evidence accumulating that diesel is indeed the devil's fuel. Pollution in London is getting worse and the suspicion that this is due to the tax system forcing car drivers to downgrade to diesel powered cars. This is causing more premature deaths amongst city dwellers by encouraging strokes and heart attacks. Worse, their now seems to be a strong link between diesel pollution and the growth in asthma and autism.

Their is a rising chorus saying the use of the devil's fuel should be reversed by removing the financial incentives that encourage people to have tractor engines in their cars. They have my full support as I don't want my grandchildren poisoned.

Not that I feel strongly about this you understand!

PS Ever seem a luxury or racing car with a tractor engine?
