F30 Wind Level, windows down?

As above gentlemen. I am one of those who enjoys driving a car with the driver's window down, even if it's snowing.. Prior to owning the 335d saloon, I have always had convertibles or coupes, and as the doors are longer, the side pillar sits behind the driver, and therefor when you drive with the windows down, the wind rather than coming in and slaps your face it goes behind you...

Then I got the 335d and I have noticed, when I drive with the windows or sunroof down, excessive winds goes inside the car, and it's really not tolerable, to the point I have to close the windows, any speed above 30/40mph..

At first I blamed it on the weather, then I blamed it on the saloon, then now having had access to an F31, there was no wind at all.. Even the wife's C Class, I have no issues, nor a Golf in the family.

I need to hear from you F30 guys, ideally from xdrives as well, in case it is to do with the height?

Any input is kindly appreciated.

😊

I never open my windows, makes too many dirty marks on them lol, its annoying that they open and close a little bit when you open and close the door, on my old car I used to open the rear windows rather than the front if I wanted some air

I like fresh air, love convertibles, but hate having windows open! I find most cars with windows open to be noisy.

The sunroof on the tourer is great- happy to have it on tilt on the motorway, and fully open on a and b roads

Don't drive with the rear windows down above 40mph. You get an awful fast thud, thud, thud, thud noise which will give you a headache in about 5 mins. The E90 was even worse.

+1, back windows? What back windows? Lol, it's a taboo in my car, unless we're on stand still traffic

I drive the wife's C Class with front windows & panoramic sunroof open with no issues at all :'(

It's unprecedented issue for me, I wish another person who's like me can contribute with their comment

I don't think I've had any cars that don't do that, I just crack open another window 10mm or so as well and no more thud thud

+1.

I drive with my windows down on the highway all the time. I find the quitest when I have driver all the way down, rear driver side about half way down and then I put passanger side front and rear about half way down. Don't open the roof much though. I definitely get the thudding noise but slight adjustments on any of the windows can usually elimnate it.

In my experience any open car windows have to be adjusted to completely stop pressure buffeting. As said above, often just cracking open rear windows reduce or eliminate it completely.

Having my panoramic roof fully open at motorway speeds, requires the rear windows to be cracked open about 20mm. If I don't, I have to partially close it back to BMW's first stop position (obviously why that stop position is there), or put up with the wind throb.

Mine is exactly the same MWA.

Sometimes I just like to drive with the windows down and music up, can't do it for long as the wind coming through the windows is horrific.
