Want to buy salvage 335D EGR cooler

I'm looking to buy a salvage (i.e cracked is fine) M57 EGR cooler preferably from a 335D. If you have the "front" one from an X5D, I think i can do that too.

I'm planning to dissect it and use pieces of it. Please PM if you have one or even if you have leads for me.

Junkyard or a buddy at a BMW dealer will be a good source.

It finally happened. I got a phone call from mechanic working at local BMW dealer. $25 was all it took. He was doing a warranty replacement on a 2009 X5D. I spoke of this in the EGR block thread (there are two) that is 5 pages long so I thought it might get missed unless you regularly read new posts in it. Here is a photo of what i got. Its part number is different than that on my 2011 335D but externally it is identical.

I had left my phone number with the a couple of the techs there. It helped that i am also a Mopar guy and one of the 2 techs i spoke with runs a 67 Dart GT with a 360 stroked to 416 c.i. Whatever it takes to help get a favor. I've helped mopar buds too.

TDI, while i have you here, I have a question. Look at photo above and notice the black part at bottom of assy. On my car, there is a black tube that hooks to this. I'm guessing that it is a vacuum line. Did you just unplug from vacuum pot and plug line with a screw (or something)? I didn't know if I should remove the black "vacuum pot" from the EGR cooler and keep it connected to line or not.

Sorry BB_cuda, I missed this during some family activities ...

This link might help:

Note: Be careful when pulling the vacuum hose off the EGR cooler flapper valve connection. I got a little too aggressive and ripped the nipple off the bulb (no jokes please) ...

I just went out and double checked ... I have a little screw in that vacuum line plugging it.
