Tstat replacement help please!!!!

So I replaced the thermostat yesterday and got coolant leak. It's coming from the bigger nipple that's held by the quick release clamp. I took that hose off and refitted it. Is it suppose to slide right in? I had the hardest time getting that thing on all the way. When I refitted it I jammed it finally on....or so I thought. Now it's leaking from the same hose again. Is there suppose to be a rubber gasket or something? Any tips on fitting that hose would be greatly appreciated.

no gasket, Should go on easy if you pull the metal clip off, slide it on then clip the metal clip back on.

I used a small amount of grease to slide it on.

I used a dab of engine oil and rubbed it inside then push all the way in.

Thanks guys! I finally got it on. Had to jam it in again. It really didn't slide in easily. Not sure what was up. But the metal clip snapped into place and no coolant leak. That's all I care about. lol.
