Front PDC sensor: beeping red (nothing ahead)

My 2013 F30 335i xDrive has been trouble free for over 1 year (SA build).

During the last 2 weeks, the front PDC sensor developed unexpected symptoms.

There are no obstructions ahead of the vehicle.

1. Start the car. Sensor beeps red (continuous sound), red bar is rendered in front of the vehicle (on the screen).

2. Shift to Drive, begun moving slowly. Still beeping, red bar is still rendered.

3. Accelerate. Beeps frequently, but not continuously anymore.

4. Stops beeping after few hundred yards.

The car is at the dealer right now. The dealer is also performing several factory recommended service procedures, nothing mechanical as I understand. One of them is the water drainage grommet replacement.

Happens a lot during the winter months if there is snow/ice stuck to the bumper. Assuming none of that is present at the moment so probably just dirty?

Update after my dealer performed the service

- PDC sensor was faulty but not the front one. The rear sensor recorded the fault. Unusual because iDrive screen was showing a front obstruction.

- Three service campaigns have been performed B71 01 13 Replace Emissions Label, B51 05 14 Remove Water Grommet and B51 06 14 Rework Corrosion Protection.
