Anybody be interested in a group track day??

All,

I want to give my car a real work out, but (a) dont want to risk paintwork in a 'race' and (b) dont want to risk anything stupid on a public road.

There is a track that can be hired for the day...

http://www.llandow.com/

I am being told that the private use of the track for a day would cost about £1500, but if any peeps are interested, then it would work out ok between a bunch of us.

Anybody interested?

It could also be a great day for a general meet up, do some coding (for those that need it), etc.

Llandow's a cracking circuit and there are some simply gorgeous roads around it.

I'd be interested a bit later in the year....no point in a 520d. I recall the last guy that suggested a meet up was met with near accusations of stalking, I think it would be brilliant. UK Bimmerpost Day, and a track meet all the better.

Yes - to be clear, I am thinking autumn time - maybe end of August or September.

And no, not stalking :-)

I would definitely be interested. A track day done this way with costs split between people might allow me to try both cars on track- would love to have some track time in the 335d but not enough to justify a whole track day. I'd then mainly use the Z4.

I might be up for this, it would be nice to actually meet some of you guys rather than just peeking through your curtains.

I think I mentioned this earlier in year.

Couple of things on a Santa pod this summer.

First one is BMW rally in June 13,14,15.

Then BMW show in September.

Hah! God I'd hope it was wet if I did Llandow (Bus Stop is hilarious when slippy). Otherwise that'll be a set of tyres gone in a day

Would be interested to try Santa Pod at some point. Surface there is a slippy as hell so I think xDrive would do alright. Reckon I'd do okayish in diesel category. Tried it a few times in various cars. Scariest was Exige with S/C chargecooled Honda lump - even in 3rd I had bad wheelspin. Was quick tho!

So at £1500 what do we think the minimum number is to make this a goer?

15 would make it £100 each and I'd be happy with that, obviously the more there is then the less we pays.

Would we have a max number to ensure plenty time and space for everyone, and hopefully reducing even further the small risk of a coming together.

I am aiming at 20 - on the basis that 5 or so will drop out. Tat also means its not crowded, so risk will be next to nothing.

I do think you need to bear in mind firstly that it's £1,500 PLUS Vat and that doesn't include everything.

Usually maximum of 10 cars for 20min sessions.

A good mate of mine runs Experience Days there so would probably be able to furnish more details or organise a day for us including some instruction? At least you'd have a realistic idea of pricing including everything.

If you have any problems with Llandow, I can recommend Blyton Park as an alternative. Some good corners and no barriers to hit if you overcook things! Should be cheap to hire as its not an MSA racing circuit as such.
