Naughty Audi!
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-27392157
I'm very surprised to hear that not all Audi's are NCAP tested. Less surprised to hear that salesmen are claiming things that aren't true! I wonder how much these safety ratings actually affect people's buying decisions?

Here's a link to the Audi piece on Watchdog if anyone missed it. (Needs Flash Player).

I think this is a little bit sensationalist from Watchdog (no surprise there). Basically Audi's fault is not training their staff properly.
Have a look at the Euro NCAP website - it's a bit of an eye opener(or it was for me). Not all cars are tested, there is no legal requirement that they should be. Some are selected and paid for by NCAP themselves to be tested, others are submitted by manufacturers at their own expense. There is no suggestion that the Audi A5 is not safe. They didn't get it NCAP tested because it's basically an A4, which has been NCAP tested. BMW does the same - for instance, there are no NCAP results for E92, F32, or F12. I wonder how many BMW dealers would have told you that they were tested though...From the Watchdog link: "Audi UK this morning received new mystery shop results from an independent market research agency taking in 15 dealer addresses and covering 3 other premium car brands but not Audi. The results show that 9 of these retailers are incorrectly claiming 5 star NCAP results across all of the UK ranges. The remaining 3 did not have a suitable answer." |

Not saying BMW are saints but I have to confess that I'm biased because of some very bad experiences with Audi UK and five of their dealerships.
