Ordered car ?

On the 21st of May I ordered a M235 and up to this point the 30th of May I have no order information.
Should I press them on some info ?
I e-mailed my salesman today asking politely if he forgot about me and he said 'of course not' he would be contacting me soon with info.

Is this the usual way an order developes? Not a big dealership but close and convenient.
I'm also trading in my present car and am consciously limiting the miles I put on it and would like my new car by very early August - is it doable ?

I ordered mine on 3/21/14 and it just got delivered to port of NY yesterday, should have it in 1.5 weeks. So, early August should be possible. The status on the web is useless(out of date by ~1 week), and the phone status is also undependable and out of date. I just called now and it said the car was awaiting a shipping vessel, after telling me previously that it was in transit. Call the sales person to get correct status. It does take a couple of weeks before the car is scheduled in production.

Thanks for the reply. My dealership seems like a first class operation.
I'm excited about the car and and anxious for a build# and then VIN to chk out.

If you ordered on the 21st of May, it would ideally be for a June production. The dealers have their allocation info for June by first week of May, from what I understand. If dealer has not given you any order info by now, it's quite possible they do not have any allocations left for June and are waiting until next week to get their allocations for their 2015's (July builds). They don't always come right out and tell you what's going on, but if you ask the right questions, they may go a little deeper into what's going on.

I would ask if they currently have an open allocation for June for the M235i. I am guessing no. Where you go from there is up to you, but there aren't going to be many allocations remaining. Many dealers were getting one a month.

Forgot to say, if your car is built in early July, it may be possible get it by August (I don't think early August is likely though), but it really depends on IF your build is July and what the build week is for that allocation. Your sales advisor should know all these things (though July build info isn't available until next week). Things to keep in mind, I believe the plant closes for a week to reconfigure for the new model year. There may also be a priority set for showroom cars over customer orders. Not positive, but these things may affect the outcome of your order.

Check some of the other threads.......here is my timeline
April 20th signed deal, planning on a PCD
No allocation till may for dealer so had to wait
May 2nd got production number, no scheduled start date
dealer says estimated start is to be week 23 (1st week of June)
Estimated PCD looks like early Aug...seems like an eternity

I actually enjoy the wait. At this point of my life doing the research is more then half the fun.
Thing is, my current car is my trade-in so don't want mileage or time to depreciate our agreed upon value by the time the new car comes in.
They really shouldn't hassle me over that though since my car is nice and I'm not bothered by dealerships low balling on trade-ins.

They should tell you exactly when is your allocation, for example if your dealer has 3 spots next month then they will tell you that you've got 1 of those 3 spots.

If they cant tell your exact allocation then they selling you a who knows when spot

So in May they should know what open allocations they have for June? how about in May knowing July allocations?
I was guessing they were waiting for June to give me a July allocation.
I'll be talking to my salesman next week.
