eBay M3 gauge rings
Hello everyone,
I bought M3 gauge rings from eBay that show them for a E90. I have a E92. They fit. Same rings. I also purchased the center silver carbon fiber overlay. Here is how it turned out.

That actually looks really good man. I like it. If y I you don't mind me asking, what do the rings cost. And how hard was the installation?

The rings ran $30.00. You have to be very careful pulling the glass off. If you are to hard on it you can crack the glass.

I am pretty sure the M3 cluster would fit. Not sure about the back plug. Anyone else know? Thanks

Cluster would need coded to your car + if it is the DCT version with shift lights - the shift lights will never work - only work if you actually have a DCT tranny...

They make these rings in chrome too as well as this satin finish,
Wonder how that would look? There was no installed pics

Those look great! I wish we had a way to change the gauge faces to the grey, like the 335iS. I miss the grey gauge faces of previous BMW models.

Okay... I successfully got the gauge out, did the LED swapout and now I'd like to change the gauge rings to the M3 style.
How in the hell do you get the plastic lens off the peaked housing ? I don't want to crack the lens or the housing. Is there a trick to it ? For me, this is by far the most difficult part. Gotta love the Bimmian PDF "Insert the new ring through the back of the housing" .. ya, it's that easy. They go through the trouble of telling you to cut the bottom tabs off the old rings before removal... I assume this is because the plastic lens is still installed and they're difficult to get out otherwise. (Nowhere do they tell you to separate the lens from the housing.) So HITF do you get the new ring in through the back ? https://bimmian.com/elements/page.ht...GRI/GRI9XN.pdf Tnx. Last edited by radeohedca; 06-08-2016 at 06:27 PM.. |
